Timmy, You are the most informative and fun guy to listen to. One suggestion, (and I bet others feel the same way) when you introduce a product can you put the name on the screen and leave it up there for a while. Some of these products have exotic and long names and as it stand now it's impossible to find them if we are unable to remember the full name. Thanks, Joel B

When you said: "the most fun iem ever", it literally reminded me of Crinacle's review of the Z1R. And I was right! Haha. Wayy cheaper than the U12T, but also wayy above the price I'm willing to spend so far. Love the vid!

Have you use beyerdynamic xelento? I found out on forum many users said the bass can even beat z1r. Please get your hands on that if your never tried it.
@NisxmErsyad2 жыл бұрын
Here’s what one of the reviewers said: IER Z1R: The Xelento has more bass impact, but the Z1R has greater sub bass and much further extension. The Z1R has a wider sound stage and better instrument seperation, which was expected, due to the dedicated mid and treble drivers. However, given the Z1R costs double the price, i wouldn't say you are getting double the performance, albeit far from it.

Timmy, put a good set of foam tips on your Hook X and give them another listen. They're definitely better than the Timeless with more and cleaner sub and mid bass that you can not only hear but actually feel. That Bone Conduction Driver in the Hook X needs a good solid connection to your body and silicon tips just don't provide that. Use a good set of Dekoni, Comply or similar quality foam tips and you will think you're listening to a totally different set of IEMs. That's how important it is to use Foam tips with the Hook X...

Surprised you didn’t mention Campfire Audio’s Mammoth 🦣 or Honeydew 🍈 IEMs in the basshead category
@mensrea12512 жыл бұрын
CA has a house bass signature. Their TOTL basshead iem is the Atlas (the Equinox is basically the same driver and tuning except in non-universal format so the FR graph deviates somewhat towards the upper mids snd treble). The Honeydew, Polaris II and the Vega II’s are the other prominent examples of the same signature, although at lower price and performance points.
@mensrea12512 жыл бұрын
@Alex Smith Don’t ask me. I didn’t even know you posted a reply until now. Could have been KZbin or the channel owner. Try again perhaps?
@mensrea12512 жыл бұрын
@Alex Smith More bass isn’t the same as better bass. The Polaris II exceeds the Honeydew in bass quantity but they are usually ridiculed for how over the top it is. The topic of the video is “best bass iems on the planet”. Neither the Mammoth nor the Honeydew belong. The Atlas would.

I'm so disappointed in the treble on IKKO OH10.. weird tonality in the treble.. super sibilant.. SsssSSssssSsSs... all tracks with hihats or claps gets tiring extremely fast.. Low-pass filter on 20KHz and the tssssss sound is gone, but lose dynamics and detail. I can't fix it easily with a peaking filter, but seems to be around 3.6-3.7KHz (Q=3, gain= -9dB), then the subbass is also more forward and fuller..

Check out Crinacle's tier list. Variations is at an A+, compared to the Monarch's S-, and the Z1R's S tier rankings. He mentions that the list is logarithmic so I can't imagine the difference is earth shattering really. You would have to try them out. I own a pair of Monarchs, and honestly the biggest difference to my ER2's is the soundstage. It's got endgame separation with ridiculous detail. The subbass rumble is the icing on the cake.

I’m using OH10 and Variations right now. I Really Really like the Variations sound. The bass is not weak. It’s mostly there when you need it. but I 😢LOOOVEEEE the Oh10 sound. Love it. It forces you to listen to music. it’s not for background music listening. It punches you in the dick. … here’s the thing, I find the OH10 uncomfortable physically. They’re just so heavy and the nozzle hurts my outer ear canal somehow. … where do I look for an IEM that has OH10 Sound, with a fit as comfortable as the Variations. I could wear the Variations all day. … I’m willing to spend up to 600 for something that PunCHes like Oh10, but fits smooth like Variations……

I'm in the same Dilemma currently. I want to switch from my Simgot EA500 to either the OH10 or Variations but the things you mentioned are a deal breaker.
@ZenPoet Жыл бұрын
@@Nick_in_the_6ix Yo, I just got the Aful Performer8 last night and I was in love immediately. Not “better” than oh10-just not as much blanketing bleeding warmth. Both great for different reasons. The Performer8 is better than Variations imo. Performer8 is crisp, clear, detailed, and has all the bass that is needed for songs that have bass mastered into them. I have Primus’s “my name is mud” on my headphone test playlist, as well as some Portishead and Tool and a couple EDM songs… and the bass was plentiful. But with things like jazz or neoclassical, the Performer8 has clarity and detail that neither OH10 or variations can match. 😍
@Nick_in_the_6ix Жыл бұрын
@@ZenPoet I just watched the frequency graph as well as Timmy's review on the Performer 8 and I get what you're saying. I think it is a solid consideration and an almost perfect match for what I want those iems for. How is the comfort overall and what tips are you using on the 8? Also is sub bass present or completely muted? Because my Simgot got a beautiful mid bass but forward miss but lacks sub bass which makes Hip Hop listening a little boring but performs really well at genres like Jazz, Indian Classical, albums from Yosi Horikawa etc.
@ZenPoet Жыл бұрын
@@Nick_in_the_6ix … I used the track “Audiohuasca” by iTom Lab to test sub bass presence. It’s there. It’s definitely there. I’m sufficiently pleased. It’s not OH10 level, but it’s present. … going from having been listening to the obsidian for the last five months, it takes some getting used to not having that much bass, but what is gained in clarity and detail is worth it

Unfortunately, not much above $6K is actually good in the iem world. There are a lot of money grab iems, so be careful you don't get scammed into a bad iem. The most expensive, "S" tier iem I know of is the Elysian Acoustic Lab X. If you want to spend that much money, I'd instead recommend getting a good headphone set, like the Hifiman Susvara.

Try it....it's bassy. Just a different kind of bassy. Subbass is still bass and it has a LOT of it. But yes, some bass heads LOVE midbass. So if you're one of those than Variations is not for you. But there are also bassheads who are happy with just subbass as well.
