The Best Beach In The World?! (Maya Bay, Phi Phi)

I visited Maya Bay in Phi Phi, Thailand to see one of the most famous and beautiful beaches in the world with my friends ‪@Danygotaworldtosee‬ ‪@ByancaG‬ and Clara: / clarazumpano .
This place blew me away, from the crystal blue water to the beautiful white sand. We arrived just before the crowds and managed to enjoy the area in all of its glory. We then took our boat to a few more spots before heading back to the main island and getting some pad thai.

The best thing about traveling to the Philippines is that people here speak English. Even boat men here speak basic English. No problem with communication. Now that you’re here in the Philippines, I suggest that you check out the beaches of El Nido and Coron in Palawan. You’d probably title your vlog as the real best beach.

Fun fact. I enjoyed Maya Bay on my visit there (but found it overcrowded with tons of boats at that time... ) Alex Garland, the author of THE BEACH lived in the Philippines for 6 months and was inspired by the island of Palawan (not sure which specifically) but set it at Maya Bay because Thailand is more well known to backpackers and therefore more relatable. It is also kind of similar... jagged limestone cliffs, crystal clear water with gorgeous backdrop....

I admit I will be bias as a Fil. but fairly. Only the height of rocks there are epic in this Thai. Beach. Also white sand and the water is so clear but swallow even in further offshore. In Palawan the rocks are not as massive but its like artistically chiselled in irregular vertical trims by nature with deep gray rock hues. Also with white sand and a very clear deeper water with shade of greenest blue.

Harry should have been respectful from the start and paid the boat driver the full amount agreed for the trip instead of treating him with distrust and creating this situation with him of not paying him until the tour ended. Then he gets upset midway through and you were mocking him, being disrespectful to him. He is running a business which is his livelihood. You created the issue yourselves because you didnt treat him like you would any other business or service in your country. If you hired a car in the UK would you think you should pay for the hire car when you finish using it or at the start? If you did a boat trip in your country would you refuse to pay the business until the trip ends? So why do you think it was respectful and fair to pay at the end of the trip? Live and learn, treat people with due respect and kindness, dont mock them, or be a smartass especially in Thailand. There is a fine line, before you upset someone and offend someone where it becomes a serious situation. I love your videos, but this situtation shows some lack of respect for the locals and your own arrogance, and privilege.

@@X_theOracle To be fair, there are many services even in the UK where it's customary to pay after the fact. Taxis, hairdressers, restaurants, etc. I watched that segment of the vlog again and the boat driver seemed to become irritated after stopping at the monkey island. Perhaps he felt that all the tourists shooting up close were trivialising the monkeys and making them into a spectacle? I'm guessing of course. Maybe someone here can translate what the boat pilot was saying. I honestly didn't see what you saw in terms of arrogance or privileged attitude coming from Harry. I've followed him since Sri Lanka and he is always respectful and polite. Occasionally he might use humour when there's a misunderstanding because of the language barrier, but he doesn't go around mocking people. If he did I would have switched off ages ago. He is unfailingly well-mannered towards everyone, even when he's being harassed by scammers, and his humour is almost always self-deprecating, which is part of his charm.

Thailand is indeed a big tourist country, and their main income comes from foreign tourists; That beach became famous because of the movie. In 2018, there were too many tourists and the ecology was destroyed. The Thai government is temporarily closed and it is said that Thais rarely go there, they go to new locations！ 泰國確實是觀光大國，他們國人主要收入就是來自外國觀光客； 那片海灘因電影聲名大噪，2018年曾因旅客太多，生態遭破壞， 泰國政府暫時關閉，據說泰國人很少去那裏，他們已有新地點！

great video Harry, the boat guy just misunderstood what was asked of him and that is why he asked for the money before he went back, they do get ripped off quite a lot and it does make them a little bit harder to deal with but that's the tourist traps, further away from the tourists it's much easier to bargain and on the whole the people are lovely, are you staying In Thailand long ? will you visit North Thailand ? looking forward to the adventure. I'm heading for North East Thailand on the 6th July if you are still in Thailand I would be happy to show you my rice farm and what life is like in the villages, it's not luxurious by any means but it is reality 😄

for crystal clear water and great beaches you can visit andaman n nicobar islands ( 572 islands) and lakshadweep islands (36 islands). both are bit away from mainland india and requires persmission to visit. you can have travel agency to do that work for you . lakshadweep is close to maldives has got unharmed coral reeves. it's like Maldives at very lesser cost. both has bluest water. Radhanagar Beach in Havelock Islands of Andaman has been rated as best beach in asia by trip advisor and others.
