I was going to study for CCNA just to have a certificate, but i do not qant a career in networking ( switches and routers) this video is great and provided the answer and guidance i was looking for given that the google cert covera foundation networking skills. I also found it a waste of time to need to study for CCNA when in the last four years i have been working with switches. Thank you very much.

You just sold me on the Google course. I am looking to get back into the IT field, I got a CCNA and A+ nearly 20 years ago and I got a few odd jobs but nothing stuck. I also had issue with folks who would lie through their teeth about their capabilities, get hired making way more money and knowing far less then me. Yet I am holding the bag on nearly $30k in student loan debt. Left a very sour taste in my mouth, but I want to give it another go. I am 53 and am hoping that my overall experience will give me a boost. I have been using Linux for years as my daily desktop, I have taken a Python course, dabbled in C, took a Java course. and am currently working on a engine control system from scratch for a Mitsubishi diesel engine. Also considering taking a Technical Writing Certificate course as I believe that a large portion of IT is in fact writing technical documentation of courses of action and processes and procedures. First things first I need to go pass my Linux Essentials course this Tuesday so I already got the Linux part down, then I can jump on this Google course. Oh ya, PreCalc next semester to hone those problem solving skills ;) Wow, if any one read this far, thanks! I don't have anyone to talk to about this stuff so I kind get carried away in the comments! Cheers!

I’m currently doing the Google Cert and just finished module 1 in a day and a half. I passed my first graded exam with a 100% . I’ve taken a lot of notes over 2,000 words just in module one in obsidian. I’ve never been great at studying so I was wondering if maybe I should take the exam a day or 2 after reviewing the material that way I can study the notes for a day or 2 and possibly retain it better? Or should I just keep going at the rate I’m going at? I made some flash cards with the terminology and definitions but I’m afraid that I’m not retaining what I’m being taught.. Hey I have a question, I've been going through the Google course and found it had a lot theoretical parts which kinda of seemd the same concept but recycled many times just under different names, so all those concepts didn't settle very well in my mind. Is all that theoretical mumbo jumbo, really necesarry ? Will people during interviews ask you a lot of questions from those concepts ? I get that it's good to go through them to have a general ideea, but will someone have to master those concepts in depth ?? Thanks
@UnixGuy
@UnixGuy Жыл бұрын
you’re meant to learn the concept and understand them so you can use later on the job, it might sound like ‘mumbo jumbo’ now but it’s all basics that you’re meant to know…

if you're not already, start taking notes and write down everything they teach, helps massively with ubderstanding and remembering all the theory. You probably won't make it anywhere in this field if you're not an avid note taker because it's just impossible remembering everything

I'm currently taking the Google IT Support certificate, and while I'm learning a ton off it, I really struggled with the Network section. Networking is something I really want to understand and know. I'm unsure if it's because Networking is extremely difficult to understand, or if the course wasn't done well. I felt like they just threw a bunch of IP addresses at me and gave me acronyms every 10 seconds. I passed that section but felt like I learned nothing. Hoping to learn from another source such as this, or elsewhere.
