They really do make beautiful boats! They don’t cost what they used to, but that’s what the used market is great for!

$80,000+ for a "first" boat? Nobody should spend more than $20,000 (and that's even a stretch) on their first boat. Trust me when I tell you, you might think you know what you want. You don't. Whatever boat you get will be missing things you didn't even know you needed and have stuff you "knew" you wanted that you absolutely don't use. Buy a used boat and see if you're going to even use the boat. I see lots of really nice expensive boats rotting on lifts because people love the idea of a boat, but don't actually love the boat or boating. You're welcome.

I agree, which is why I said multiple times to consider the used market and look for either these boats, brands, or features in your search.

i wish they would put just a little more room in the center console to put a good size head in there..i believe that would be a good selling point for ppl new to boats in the 19foot to 22 foot range
@LivinSalty9 ай бұрын
True! But unfortunately that would take away from more deck space, which they probably didn't wanna sacrifice

Beginner boats, aka upper-middle class boats. Roger that.

Look for these manufacturers or something similar used and its more affordable.

Economy is crumping - wait until it gets cold in December - I bought 3 911's during Covid - boat builders do not have legitimate, sustainable economies of scale - 30% off of their advertised price is easy - 40% off with one of their ridiculous high interest 10 year loans is even better - you do know they can't charge you a pre-payoff penalty right ?

I will be a first time "larger boat" owner come retirement. To keep the wife and visiting family happy I'm looking at center consoles in the 21-25' range. Seems like 87k-150k is quite the range when shopping for a OS CC family/fishing/cruising type of boat. Constructive critique: have the camera on gimble. It cuts off the "jerky" type of motion. Very distracting, for me, anyways. Looking forward to going to a few boat shows to "kick some tires" in the near future.

Good luck in your search! Enjoy it. And senior salty (my dad and cameraman) is not a professional videographer, so he’s doin the best he can. I also did just throw a new complicated camera into his hands for this show so he’s still learning to use it!

I did not, I can look for them at the Palm Beach show though!

Who is the genius at nauticstar that decided to put the batteries in the bilge? Asking for a friend
@andry9543055 ай бұрын
So if your bilge pump fails for whatever reason your batteries will also get screwed in the process.
@LivinSalty4 ай бұрын
Theoretically yes, but if you've taken on that much water from the bilge pump failing, you've got bigger issues. It's definitely better that most boat manufacturers take the batteries out of the bilge now, but it doesn't mean the boat is no good because they're there.

Okay for the 500th time…. Compared to the REST of the NEW boat market, these are some of the more affordable options. If you can’t afford one and don’t want to get a loan, these are some features/brands to look for in the USED market.
@twr41cox8 күн бұрын
Smaller boats are not necessarily for “beginners.” There is a large market of folks that downsize from larger boats, and also use smaller boats for their dinghies on larger yachts. I don’t understand why you keep discussing smaller boats as “beginners,” or “entry level.” Just say it’s this certain size. Period. Again size with with boats has nothing to do with beginning with boating.
@LivinSalty21 сағат бұрын
You are 100% right, small boats are not just for beginners. For the longest time, we only had a 23ft boat because we were restricted by a slip size. The reason I refer to most of the smaller boats I cover as beginner boats is because these are the more affordable boats in this size range, making it an easier cost of entry for new boaters. In the upcoming boat shows, I will keep my eye out for more supped up boats in this category for all the experienced boaters looking for this size range. Thanks for the reminder 👍

You need to know something about boat before talking about them, they are not furniture for storing and sitting. Mako. Where is the livewell? 21footer for value boat $87k. You crazy, Key West is cheaper for 23 footer and it's mid range boat. You could sell some furniture with storage 😂😂😂😂
