***Originally this vid was going to be earlier, and a little bit different format WITHOUT "New Bike Day" being a part of it....
Then I had a computer crash...lost the whole project and a lot of the footage.... ARGHHHHHH...
But here it is now, with NBD!

Well done, dude!! I really like that paint scheme, reminds me of the #2 Rusty Wallace NASCAR way back in the day. I spotted that BKXC jersey in the thumbnail as well, thanks for repping it. Man, I need to do a full bike build from the ground up.

Lol... new bike day doesn't really suck! I SUCK...because I wasn't ready for it! hahaha Why do bike reviews suck? - simply because it's YOUR opinion that matters the most... yes... it's good to do some "research" and get a baseline...which is what youtube reviews can be good for, but don't let them be the be-all end-all! *Maybe I'll try to find a way to do "reviews" in a more OBJECTIVE way.... instead of so subjective. But until then.. you just get MY opinions ;) *follow up on the Ride Wrap bubble issue.... I was able to get MOST of the bubbles pushed out with a blowdryer and the squeegee... and the bike looks good. I've already crashed and ripped the ride wrap on a chainstay..BUT it didn't scratch the bike!
@chumpmtb2554
@chumpmtb2554 5 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right about bike reviews. They can be pretty hilarious, esp when you watch multiple reviews on the same bike. If you were to mash them all together the opinions would be something like.. "Great at climbing, unless you're climbing".. "Super plush, yet harsh".. "The reach is a little short, except for when its a bit long".. and of course, "Its the most poppy, playful, lively, dead, wallowing, progressive, linear, updated, outdated, bike we've tested all year!"

I used clear 3M tape on my new bike and it was super easy to put on and is replaceable, which is great, because one could call me the crashing teenager. I also have a friend who stenciled out all of the pieces of the ride wrap so he could just use his own vinyl if he meses up a piece. Too much work! Just ride!

Great new versatile ride! Just finished building up my 19 Instinct c70 “NC” build 160/140 all Kashima but yet l can only stare at this RideWrap box 😕. I’m also curious of adding a ceramic coating for double paint protection. Those CO and UT trails would be the best if they were just a bit closer to N.C.

I would argue that without Effetto mariposa 1,2mm thick tape or similar, under carbon downtube, you're not protecting your bike at all. I mean this expensive tape has no cushioning properties, it only protects from scratches. Bigger rock to the frame and the dreaded crack is ready to grow

While I totally agree that it's hard to find a "bad" bike, you can easily find a bad fitting bike if you just take the brands sizing guide as gospel. What you say about getting on the bike is absolutely true, and its also true that a one day, or heck some are just one hour demos are flawed. Stack height, bar width, saddle position, all stuff you're likely not going to change on a demo can easily ruin the feel of a bike! My ridewrap bubbles almost all went away on their own, just a few I ended up poking a hole in with the tip of a x-acto blade and pressing down. Enjoy the sweet new ride!
@TheCrashingDad
@TheCrashingDad 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah... You put it into words better than I could 🤘🏼 BUUUUT I will say that just going by their Geo charts MIGHT work most of the time as gospel, but I found two bikes in particular that should've been great on paper...but ended up feeling shite.... Just order a roll of 3M clear for protection in the future, its just as good. Way cheaper, room for error, less frustrating to deal with and can use it on multiple bikes with one roll or add a fresh layer after later to fix a section. Just measure and cut. Also as long as there are no air bubbles you'll be hard pressed to tell the difference until your up close. Also when spraying just the frame (don't need to spray the film), you want to do it from far enough away that mist settles onto the frame. Single squeeze of the trigger while moving your arm across the frame from a couple feet away. That way the water is smooth and consistent so pushing down the wrap is easier and you run into fewer bubbles.
@TheCrashingDad
@TheCrashingDad 5 жыл бұрын

That would be hard to put those frame protection on with all the knocks, crannies and bends. Congrats on the new bike! The Altitude was what I wanted to try from them at Outerbike, but they said they only brought 1 large. So, it was always gone.☹ I think, due to Outerbike, I decided on my new bike.😁 This will be my last bike, so gotta make it count! "Dentist build". That cracked me up. Lived out in Boulder in the late 90's and loved it. The riding is awesome at both but completely different. The lack of population density really limits our exposure to different bikes. I saw that the Norco sight 2020 was your second choice. Why do you like the Instinct BC 50 more? Any differences that really stand out to you? I've been trying to choose between those two bikes and the Ripmo AF. Thanks man for the beta in advance! I just ordered the Instinct this morning - stoked.
@TheCrashingDad

Hey Cole, stoked on that instinct order! did you go regular instinct? or instinct bc? for ME.... the geometry of the Rocky Mountains just feels really comfortable and familiar... almost like I don't have to think about it or adjust in any way. The Norco felt like that as well... BUT with the BC edition instinct, I personally felt like i wasn't giving up very much on the climbs and regular trail riding vs the regular instinct.... and the little bit of extra travel goes a long way with the BC... AAAAAAAANNNNNNNNDDDDDD... this is going to sound stupid, but for some reason I was just more stoked on the Instinct BC... and sometimes in this day and age of great bikes, just being more stoked on a certain bike can make all the difference in how much you want to ride it..lol Cheers dude!
