I believe Diageo owns the brand, distilled by Heaven Hill but at the Bernheim distillery in Louisville, not the Heaven Hill distillery in Bardstown. That really high corn mashbill makes it that sweet.

I’ve been eyeing that bottle for awhile. I can be had by a good back story or a sexy bottle. The Belfour has a similar nice looking bottle. I don’t remember being blown away by it. Thanks for the video!

I got a bottle of this a few years back at a tour of the old Stitzel Weller distillery for closer to a Benjamin. I agree, beautiful bottle and 15 year statement, but I was underwhelmed. Yes, ok for sipping but not as complex as I had hoped. I liked the Blade and Bow we also got there better.

Before I watch the video, I'll tell y'all what I think is the best bourbon to *give* ("gift" is a noun - you give a gift 🙂). I would say something from Knob Creek - the 9 year for someone who's fairly new to bourbon, and the 12 year or a store pick for someone more experienced. We'll see if I have occasion to come back and add to this. 🙂 4:06 I've never been to college, and I've been using "egregious" most of my life. 🙂 8:20 Josh, you're a gusher and a half. 😂

I do have a bottle of the I.W. Harper 15, but I actually prefer the 12 year old (which I also have), though I'm not sure about availability (I got both from an auction site, not a shop). I suspect the 15 may have replaced the 12, which would be a shame... Or it could just depend on the market: I know it was one of the 'Japan only' brands for a long time (lucky them!).

One of the local bars has this, and I've had it a couple times. It tastes surprisingly young for its age statement. I like it and would order it again (and it is food friendly, which is a good thing when I'm ordering dinner at the bar), but I have about the same opinion of it - at $75, it might have specific uses but I don't see it as a high priority to take up a spot in my collection. The price certainly is good for the age statement, but for somewhat more money, Calumet 16 tastes a lot more like what I would expect and is still reasonably priced for its age.

I've tried it at a bar. It's definitely not worth 50 dollars. My personal opinion is that it's at the same flavor level as regular buffalo trace. So to me its a $25-$30 Bottle max. Cheers guys and thanks for the review. 🎉🎉🎉

I disagree that the only important thing about the whiskey and value lies in the taste. I think things like age statement, rarity, and definitely bottle astetics all play apart of the value and overall appreciation. Taste is definitely the biggest part, bit it isn't the end all be all for worth to me.

It really seems like the proof holds this one back. $75 for a 15yr age statement is not a bad price. If they had bottled it at 10-20 proof points higher it sounds like it could have been a banger at $75.
