Have to admit after the Acemagic debacle, the first thing I'd do is wipe the drive and start fresh with any of these minis.

Every reviewer needs to scan a review unit and state the results. If found it goes back. If not, then wipe the drive anyways and start over. Because finding malware and going "Yeah, but it's a great price and I'll just reload from scratch" doesn't hurt them, they already got your money. They don't care. And depending on the "Brand" the "Brand" might not exist in 6 months anyways. Just saw another KZbinr that did a video on the Acemagic. In passing he said that a Bmax model also had the same stuff on it. Bmax has been around a few years now. In the small PC game, they would be considered a name brand of long standing.

I've always done that but for a totally different reason, once upon a time I had to help someone reinstall a machine that it was impossible to find some driver or another for. Ever since then if it's not a dell/hp/big vendor the first thing I do is wipe and reinstall to find out if I need any strange drivers or whatever. The whole ace magic debacle (and that's not the first time PC's have been shipped with malware, just very recent) only reaffirms it as good practice.

Best idea is to get barebones and put in your own drive. And RAM if not soldered

I actually ordered one of these from Amazon UK a couple of months ago but didn't collect it from the locker because the listing was so vague, but it looks like the simple device I need for WFH. Being able to plug the PC into the monitor with one cable, and plug everything else into the monitor makes life much easier, especially when the monitor is shared with two laptops. I like the look of this unit and agree that the plethora of USB ports is nice.... but even for a unit of this price I'd have hoped for a slightly better wifi card. It's good that it can be replaced, but still. To my surprise I kind of like that they used a SATA (I assume) drive in the 2242 slot and left the 2280 nvme for a big non-OS drive. it feels as though there's a lot to like about this, but...

Very impressive overall. I would have liked the USB 2 ports on the front as they are likely to be used for mice/keyboards/input devices, so when using wireless dongles, greater line of sight means a better signal. It would be interesting to take 1 16Gb DDR5 RAM stick from another box and run some tests in this to establish how much greater the performance could be.

The T9 doesn't support DDR5. RAM slots aren't forward or backward compatible. This one's DDR4 only.

OK, just got my Amazon delivery and pretty pleased with it. FWIW I Scanned the drive with Windows and Avast, and it's clean. I'd say that it does what it says on the tin, but there is no tin (it's plastic) and there is zero branding. Not complaining though - looks like an ominous alien brick on my desk!

Yep, started scanning manually with Malwarebytes since the ACEMAGIC debacle. Normally it's not an issue since Windows Defender picks up malware and would let me know, but I didn't realise that the ACEMAGIC S1 had Windows Defender turned off in the OS!

I've done this on a few mini's I've bought and usually the most annoying part is figuring what key get's into the bios (beelink nicely puts it on the bottom) . Other than that it's the same as any other PC. Also never had a problem with ventoy on any of the ones I've tried.

Looks and feels soooo good for 90$ I've spend on it. Mine came as zb-mn11 model. Don't know if I was that lucky, but if your mini pc overheats from start, check if factory plugged fan in :D Had to fix it, was 95 degree inside haha, now it's 40

Unlikely. Many who've tried to do this say it didn't work (with laptops and mini PCs in general).

These RAM slots are not forward or backward compatible. Whatever generation is used, that's all you can use.

Should be able to. Not sure if the Windows key would be valid though and you'd have to find the drivers yourself or use something like the AVG driver finder to get any missing drivers.
