The toxicity of printing resin is scary, and I think a lot of people are underestimating it's potential harm. You definitely need to wear organic filter mask and gloves, but also practice hospital surgery level of discipline. Which in the consumer space, I don't think people would follow. I might stay away from SLA because it also looks way too finicky, and way too unsafe. Like asbestos level of unsafe.

I mean IPA is off the shelf stuff at wal-mart, it's not like you need a Hazmat license to work with this stuff. I'm amazed at the level of fear everybody has with this. If you ever built a model with Testor's glue, or worked on a car, you've undoubtedly contacted worse material for longer than you would with this. I am ready to buy my first resin printer. I am choosing resin because I create jewelry and they have the resin casting wax. Could you do a side by side of the few resin printers you have with casting wax and some jewelry models like rings with prongs so we can see if the claims that these will work are real? My hope is to print a casting tree whole on the sprue so I can eliminate molds, wax injecting and treeing by hand. When you think about small links for a bracelet (10 to 20 components) being done one by one compared to this it is going to make it possible to turn out more than one finished product in a week. If you can get a model of a casting tree with several jewelry items on it that would be the ultimate. Try asking Stuller as they make the software (rhino gold) to design these items. The other software is 3-design and Matrix they may want to promote theirs as well. Could be could source for a model file.

I have attempted to print 3 different miniatures on my Longer 10 (which is quite time consuming, considering you cant see a failure until roughly 2 hours in, along with then having to take an extra 20-30 minutes after to clean up the failure and reassemble everything). The failures seem to be coming from the fact the the supports put in by the software (much like shown in this video) are placed under the base of the miniature. Each time I attempt a print the supports under the base come out fine but it seems like they fail and the base (and everything after it) fall and end up as a solid mess on the base of the resin pool. Would you have any suggestions for dealing with this issue? I'm preparing to shelve my attempts at Resin/SLA printing given these failures and just stick to using FFF/FDM style, but I really want the fine detail that comes from SLA.

The LCD and UV source on every resin printer I own is considered a consumable by the vendor. Unless it fails within a VERY short period, you have to replace at your own cost. Both of these are good for several 1000 hours usually. If you are using these printers in a production environment, you will want to keep a LCD, UV source, build plate and 2 vats as a minimum spares kit. The vats are critical because if you have a failed print, you can just swap in a new vat and start a another print. Cleaning adhered resin from the bottom of the FEP takes some time.

Cap Syzeable I’ve had one failed print so far and it was my own fault. I’ve already gone through the 500ml bottle of green that came with it and am pretty impressed. The Anycubic community is pretty good and replacement parts are abundant and fairly cheap. But, unfortunately, I’m speaking from the states. Cleaning has been the only tedious process. I built out a section of my garage specifically to house this and any other resin printers I might get. Blocked off and ventilated with work space for a cleaning process. Resin on a special self, sonic cleaner, couple alcohol baths, and all the tips needed for cleaning. I’m super cautious about the material. Another machine that’s been doing well is the Elegoo Mars. Was for sale for $250 state aide beginning of July, and sold out super quick. I haven’t seen it back in stock yet. Same with the Orange. I’m planning on picking up both as soon as they are in stock and comparing them to the photo . Would eventually like a Photon s, but that’s more for convenience.

Right? Im leaning towards Mars,if it's still on sale when I have the extra dough.

Photon is almost twice as much. I know they are more tested and approved, but idk if I wanna spend that on something I won't use near as much as my fdm printers.

Something like the Wanho D7 has plenty of spares now, it remains to be seen whether the new generation of resin printers will receive the same support.
@jonathonhoogland94465 жыл бұрын
Matthew 1973 they are all likely using mass produced phone panels so the part cost is actually extremely low.

I got one of these and loaded the software and when I try to generate the supports the program closes, ive tried to contact the company but never hear back from them, so I have never got to try any of my own parts, any idea whats going on?

I am wondering why they are sending out review units of the Longer 10 when they just wrapped their Longer 30 Kickstarter that will ship shortly
@MrCcfly5 жыл бұрын
is that 30 new same kinda model like this or bigger ?
@jonathonhoogland94465 жыл бұрын
MrCcfly Bigger. Roughly the same as Prusa SL1, but no tilting bed and roughly half the printing speed.

@@MrCcfly 30 has a 2K LCD screen. Higher resolution.
@dibblethwaite5 жыл бұрын
It's a bit misleading to say it t works exactly the same as a moai. In the time lapse, the tilting bed on the moai is really obvious. That's a really important difference. You'll get more failures without it.

These resin printers have a hidden defect: the LCD display under the resin tank gets damaged by the UV light. Get on the FB group of the Phrozen and other printers and you will see problems after problems with the LCD screen. This type of printer isn't ready for reliable yet. I'm going back to FDM.
@tinplategeek10585 жыл бұрын
Hardly hidden as it is mentioned in the video. The LCD screen under the resin tank is a consumable item and will need to be replaced.
@poman9115 жыл бұрын
@@tinplategeek1058 well it was failing because there is no tempered glass between the FEP screen and the LCD screen. Any pressure from the build plate on to the FEP screen will be applied to the LCD screen. In less than 40 hours of printing, I had two failed LCD screens. The fix was to mount a tempered glass screen protector between the LCD screen and the FEP screen on the basin's bottom. There is a downside to this in that the focus point is slightly off due to the thickness of the screen protector. I can live with that loss in resolution now that the screen is reliable even after 100 hours of print.
@tinplategeek10585 жыл бұрын
@@poman911 I agree with you that it shouldn't fail fast. 2 screens in 40 hours is ridiculous. You would hope for a thousand hours plus of printing per screen. Glad you found a work around.
