Thanks for that,lived in loddon for twenty five years now moved to beccles,nice to hear a good norfolk accent.Did a twenty four at broome pits and had my first grass carp at 12lb and a pb common at 24,14oz on Friday night.Started in July this year and getting good feedback from your blogs cheers.

Great review and i couldnt agree more why spend 200quid on a reel to spod when u can buy a good quality reel like this for 60quid i have a spod rod and reel but dont use them as i fish a small intimate 3 acre lake and the carp are very spooky even leads going in puts them down for hours cheers tight lines

For a budget spod rod maybe a fox worrier spod or one of the sonik or even prolific spod rods at an entry price

I'm Norfolk based I have a weybread ticket but not fished the other weybread fisheries single lake if that's what you mean. I currently have the spomb 12ft LR and it's a beast of a rod. 🤘

I've got Wychwood despatch and an Okuma 7000 spod reel. The W is for spodding and the O is on the market set up. As I see it the Okuma has a far better build quality than the Wychwood.

I personally haven't used a spod under 12ft but I would imagine this would feel a bit large. Although i haven't looked into what size reels people spod with on smaller setups I'm afraid

@@UbiquitousRomp no but I saw it in store and assumed it would be very unbalanced on a 10ft so got the avid xr spod reel instead it is good for both in my opinion

i cannot understand how the spod reel from every commercial gets so dirty... mine is clean because i wash my hands every time after i load the spomb... so.. no dirt to the reel.

Make sure the bail arm is opening fully if it's at a certain point it will hit the reel seat and not lock in place properly. If it's still not staying open sounds like your have a dude and I'd send it back 👍
