Which is the best castle in Scotland? Scottish history tour guide Bruce Fummey takes you on a Scottish castle tour to give an insight into what makes Stirling Castle special for a day out in Scotland.

Scotland History Tours is here for people who want to learn about Scottish history and get ideas for Scottish history tours. I try to make videos which tell you tales from Scotland's past and give you information about key dates in Scottish history and historical places to visit in Scotland. Not all videos are tales from Scotland's history, some of them are about men from Scotland's past or women from Scotland's past. Basically the people who made Scotland. From April 2020 onward I've tried to give ideas for historic days out in Scotland. Essentially these are days out in Scotland for adults who are interested in historical places to visit in Scotland.
As a Scottish history tour guide people ask: Help me plan a Scottish holiday, or help me plan a Scottish vacation if your from the US. So I've tried to give a bit of history, but some places of interest in Scotland as well.

I'm about 20 mins away from the castle, me and my pals would drink in the graveyard and on the walls of said castle, even the drunken youth are usually respectful to it. Growing up in Bannockburn, we learn a lot about our history at a very young age, the way you capitulate the kings and queens of our past is exactly the way we should have been taught at school....ya know...not boring. Anyways, thanks for the content Bruce.

I was born in airthrey castle. Bridge of Allan and somehow I have always had a great love for Stirling castle. It's by far my favourite castle with astoundingly interesting history. Add the romantic bravery of Wallace and Bruce and this whole area of Scotland has a fascinating, hypnotic sense of Drawing you into the past. You can almost imagine hearing the cries of the men, the clashes of weapons , and the hooves of the horses. I just love this area.⚔️⚔️🛡️🛡️🗡️🗡️

When I lived in Stirling, I still remember the stooshie when the Great Hall was painted. I'm Scottish, however, I'm currently living in exile in the middle of Norway. Stirling castle has always been my favourite castle. Many years ago I was there with my mum and dad when we saw the actor Jack Lemon pass us talking to his young (and very bored looking) daughter.. he was telling her to look around, as this castle is a lot older than her country.. Stirling is remarkable, wherever you're walking it feels like you're going uphill.

Stirling Castle is my favourite too. I used to work in Stirling and sometimes walk around the castle in my lunch break. I'm very fond of the slow bus from Stirling to Aloa. Taking in the University campus, The Wallace Monument and the impressive Hillfoots. On the way back the castle keeps popping up to remind us of its presence. The gold wash they used on the restoration of the Great Hall was controversial at the time, imagine what the whole thing would have looked like in gold.

I'm learning so much from this guy!! I've been all over England & Wales but not yet to Scotland. I would have been there for a month last summer with my wife but...... Anyway I'm glad I found this because when I do get there next summer (God willing) I'll know so much more about where I am!! I'm in the Texas Coastal Bend area - Corpus Christi Texas.

Love your videos, very informative and the way you tell the stories keeps it intriguing. I often wonder why at school they were more interested in teaching us shit about the Romans and not our own heritage and what made us who we are today. I'm sitting here watching your video in the living room before I head to bed , that's the norm 👍

I watch these videos, whilst completing ‘paperwork’ out of hours in my role as a Community mental health nurse in an early intervention in psychosis service I need something interesting, funny and compelling to keep up my own morale! I also find post work or post exercise lying on a sofa is great! I also like to get my kids watching as people who can tell a story, speak with confidence and humour are excellent role models and examples!

I love history. I look forward to your videos and I watch them as a treat to myself shortly after you post them. My Dad was in the Air Force and we lived in Scotland from the time I was 5 til I was 7...I started school at Bruntsfield in Edinburgh and I spent lots of Sunday afternoons at the Princess Street Gardens, I sang God Save the Queen, and the little safety song of "Look right, then left and again to the right and you'll never ever get run over" And my little sister was born in Edinburgh...this was back in 1957. We went swimming at the baths. I was so young when I lived there that I think some of the culture Imprinted in my memory and I have always had an emotional connection to Scotland and a bit to England as I lived there for 4yrs when I was 11-14 I have referred your videos to my younger sister who was born there and she loves you too. Thanks for what you do.

I grew up in Clackmannanshire before moving to Stirling so always took the castle for granted. I've since relocated to North East England. I did try and go there at least once or twice a year when I lived there. Spent a lot of time there as a kid. Currently sat in a costal town in Northumberland watching this after another long day's graft. Love watching these videos to relax and wind down.
