opening theory is definitely the hardest thing for me to learn as a beginner, its very hard to memorise but you've helped me, i learned the king's gambit with you and now its time to add the fried liver to the list
@iamtheteapot7405 Жыл бұрын
He's a good teacher. Yasser Seirawan is a very good teacher as well, with many beginner lessons.
@Pandora_The_Panda Жыл бұрын
Perhaps try learning more positional openings, like the queen's gambit, for exemple, my white go-to for a long time. With these kind of openings, you simply have to learn general ideas and a few specific moves to be wary of and the rest is just regular chess judgement and calculus. Very aggressive openings can be very fun and very powerful, but they're harder to memorize too.
@lowestcommonDenomanator Жыл бұрын
@@Pandora_The_PandaI’ve had recent success with the London System, but it’s very controversial and widely a hated opening lol. I love positional chess tho, for black the kings Indian is my favorite, i think it’s a slow opening but once all the pieces get out it’s hard to defend the center as white without messing something up or making your position worse.
@Pandora_The_Panda Жыл бұрын
@@lowestcommonDenomanator As white, I mess around with the bishop's opening into all kinds of crazy gambits, or I go transpose into the italian game. I should probably start playing a better more solid opening, or at least, one I can study better, but... As for black, I play the caro-kann or the queen's indian defense mixed with the nimzo-indian. I'd like to learn the budapest, eventually, though. And about the very positionnal nature of the London, you could check out Eric Rosen's videos on how to play aggressively from the london, I think it's very interesting.
@lowestcommonDenomanator Жыл бұрын
@@Pandora_The_Panda Ah nice, yeah i like the London because there isn't much to study for. It and the kings Indian defense is consistent no matter what moves your opponent play with only a few variables. Once I improve from my low rating of 800 I should learn more complex stuff but right now i think simplicity and strong structure is key to win the games against the opponents I'm facing. I will check out that video from GM Rosen too as with the London sometimes you get stalemateish games that seem impossible to progress in if you don't attack before the position gets unbreakable.

The traxler isn't really a problem though... the main line after Na5 is. White scores so badly people stopped playing Ng5 entirely. If you're struggeling with traxler just play around with an engine and the lichess database for a bit and you'll be good.
