Very True Anna, have you ever tried your hand at picking jobs?
@annawitter51616 жыл бұрын
@@NZPocketGuide Heh heh! Yep, and what an experience! My marriage broke up while I was in NZ and I was without work, so did this kind of seasonal job for a while. I started with apple-picking. You get paid by how many crates you fill, so, if you can pick nice and fast, then you can actually make good money. Unfortunately, I was already in my 40's, and we had to get up on top of ladders, right on top, to pick the tree tops, and with a heavy pannier strapped in front, well...the harvest manager saw me wibble-wobbling precariously at the top of the ladder, and sent me off to pack rather than pick. I liked picking, packing was deadly boring! But money is money!

Yeah packing can be quite repetitive.

Which city would be conducive to single life, active lifestyle, warmer weather that will not necessarily break the bank? Services and access to transport are important.

I am going going to work as a Healthcare Assistant...Can you help me choose between Napier and Hamilton
@NZPocketGuide6 ай бұрын
Choosing between Napier and Hamilton for your job as a Healthcare Assistant depends on what you're looking for in a place to live. Napier is known for its beautiful Art Deco architecture, coastal lifestyle, and vibrant wine country. It's a bit more laid-back, with a strong sense of community and plenty of outdoor activities like visiting vineyards and enjoying the beach. Hamilton, on the other hand, is larger and more bustling, offering more amenities, shopping, and entertainment options. It's a central hub for the Waikato region, with good connectivity to other parts of the North Island and a growing urban vibe. Consider what kind of lifestyle you prefer. If you enjoy a quieter, coastal environment, Napier might be the best fit. If you want more city amenities and opportunities, Hamilton could be the better choice. For more personalized advice and insights from people who have lived in both places, join our community on patreon.com/nzpocketguide. You'll get access to weekly group calls and our secret Facebook group where you can ask questions and get feedback from fellow travelers and residents. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks for the excellent and informative videos! I need some advice from you... I have been looking online for jobs in NZ for more than a year now but I don't get any interviews. I am a mechanical engineer from South Africa, and as some South Africans, I desperately want to move to NZ. I am even working with migration consultants with the whole visa process but finding a job is a nightmare. I have profiles on recruitment sites and NZ style CV and cover letter. I think my work experience of almost 3 years only might be my biggest restriction along with the virus that is restricting air travel. With all the struggles so far I am willing to spend all my savings on a "look see decide" trip to NZ in order to go talk with a few potential employers face to face. Is this a good decision? I know many people fail but I guess taking a chance is a must.

Thanks for all your helpful videos. My question is more general, is there any work/woofing you can do for a shorter time? I’m planning to stay in NZ not more than 2 months and so far I’ve heard that you need to work somewhere at least a month. That would limit travelling around a lot.
@NZPocketGuide5 жыл бұрын
Sadly you are correct, most WWOOF opportunities are not available for short term, so you would be very lucky to find something that lasts less than a month :( More info here -> www.backpackerguide.nz/category/work-in-nz/work-for-accommodation/
