As someone with multiple tens of thousands hours into complex citybuilders and complex grand strategy games like cities skylines, europa universalis, victoria ans hearts of iron. They all get criticised for nott being easy pickupable. I consider that critique dumb. Because 1. They usually are not that difficult to pickup for someone versed in complex games. Ppl without experience just overestimate their capabilities. Nobody complains about dark souls being hard cause even thr mainstream knows by now. 2. It is literally impossible to create a complex in-depth yet beginnerfriendly game. You can make HARD games that are beginnerfriendly by just giving the npcs more resources but give it no depth. But depth is LITERALLY what is difficult for beginners while simultaneously being what advanced players are looking for. Thr only thing you could do is cut out alot of mechanics and implement them in some higher difficulty, but then nobody'd pick the easy difficulty anyways cause noone wants to be gatekept of content. Wanting a strategy game with a lot of depth yet it being beginnerfriendly is NOT achieveable.

Yeah I agree. That’s why I wasn’t turned away from the complexity. I just know that some people may lack the critical thinking to get this point

Great game if you like base building towards a concrete goal that isn't building an army and microing said army!

I thought the game was amazing my first time playing... but I got bored fast. Farthest Frontier was more fun even though I wouldn't think it'd be.

The learning curve may be hard but the poor and unintuitive tutorials from the very start put me off straight away... I didn't even get to climb the learning curve.

Because the city gets respawned the complexity is really low compared to cities and skylines or other city builders.
