I've been to Scottsdale, Tempe and of course Phoenix. My husband and I love the desert. My only concerns about moving to this area are the black widows and tarantula's. Also have two dogs, a lab and boxer/lab. They're used to a nice fence in grass back yard to run around and lay on when they're hot. Most homes in the desert don't have grass but rock. I"m curious how people with larger dogs play with their dogs other than having to walk them on a leash or take them to a dog park.
@EscapeToArizona4 жыл бұрын
Hey Gemini6! I totally understand. I'm happy to address. I've seen a few black widows outside near our AC units. I have not seen any tarantulas since living here. A lot of the newer subdivisions do indeed have grass and there are a TON of dog parks here. It really is a great place! Feel free to reach out with any other questions. ryan@meeksteam.com Have a great day!

Curious how you feel about all the apartments being built in the area and the rezoning to accommodate more medium density regions over low density houses and commercial buildings. Gilbert has changed a lot over recent years and a lot of people are speaking up in outrage. All the farm land is disappearing.
@EscapeToArizona3 жыл бұрын
Growth doesn't look good to a lot of people. More housing is needed here and they are finding ways to accommodate. I'm fine with it personally but totally understand those that are opposed.
@StevenzGuitarCovers3 жыл бұрын
@@EscapeToArizona Where people are upset is the rezoning for Aprartments. Less houses and commercial businesses going up, loads more apartments everywhere. Builders aren't sticking to their master plans in favor of profits.
@EscapeToArizona3 жыл бұрын
@@StevenzGuitarCovers Right.. guessing you're specifically talking about Morrison Ranch? That would definitely be a bummer if you bought a million dollar home. I'm seeing a lot of new build communities opposing even commercial and gas stations being built by them.

What is the closest large body of water - like a river or lake?
@EscapeToArizona4 жыл бұрын
Hey K.B. There's the salt river nearby. They control the height with various dams. My kids "wade" in that often. There's also Saguaro Lake and Canyon Lake. They are about 45 minutes away. The drive from Gilbert is stunning! It's an easy expressway drive to the mountains and then about 20 minutes INTO the mountains. Lake Pleasant is about 1.5 hours away if you're looking for something with wind sports as Canyon and Saguaro Lakes are surrounded by mountains (makes for a great view when kayaking) :)

They are! It's a great town to live in!
@chris72853 жыл бұрын
I know it’s ultimately my fault that this town isn’t compatible with me but I really do like this town. I am proud to have been raised in Gilbert. Gilbert will always be my home but it’s not very easy to live on if you messed up and made some mistakes in your past as a younger person. “Successful people” come to live here or stay to live here. I lived in a nice house in Gilbert as a child but my family was dysfunctional and ultimately ended up breaking apart. The house was big and I had all these materialistic things but I lacked a stable family. I don’t mean to sound like a victim because I’m not but I do wish Gilbert had some options for young people like me who didn’t quite have the right caliber growing up. I worked with what I had and I still came up short. I get ostracized for my shortcomings in this town. Gilbert just doesn’t feel like a place where I can support myself financially with its lack of public transportation and lack apprenticeship opportunities. Tempe and Chandler have the jobs I want in manufacturing and lots of opportunities for losers like me who didn’t follow the blueprint properly. It’s easy to assume I was just some punk who has no moral compass but I was actually quite well known for being very kind and generous but I think I grew up being TOO Generous and kind. I was bullied a lot at school and abused at home by my father.The suffering never ended until I finally moved out. But now I am left with nothing. No car, no college degree, no friends, no stable job that can support a single person like me. The only way this town could work for people like me is if it had more public transportation and more apprenticeship programs. Until then I will be hanging out in Chandler or Tempe where I can find better job opportunities with lots of overtime. I will have to live in a town with thieves, crackheads, thugs, etc for now all because I was too weak.

@@patricklee4316 Ugggg... i was in brookfield.. went to LT and RB.. and SE Gross in brookfield... Let's put it this way... i think the schools here are comperable.. My GF / Baby mama was a teacher at OWEN school in Naperville. We sent our kids to the best school in the Western suburbs as well. at the end of the day it depends on the parents. There are plenty of great schools here and charter schools. you have to find what fits your kid...if you want someting with no sports and all academics.. there's BASIS. otherwise a lot of great other schools that will do the job with good parenting. It's tough to realize, but if you keep on your kids in IL or AZ they will do well.

@@EscapeToArizona such a small world! I love how many Chicago transplants are in the desert. We have visited twice in the past year and have called in love with the area. So we actually don’t have children, but my fiancé is a teacher. She currently teaches in the Oswego school district. So not only would she be worried about our future children, but her own career. Gilbert is great for Families. Don't move to Gilbert if you are young, single, Gay and Black. You won't fit in. And the people that live in this area will make sure of that. People around the area tend to lean Conservative. It's not a very diverse area and it lacks that community cultural feeling you get in East Coast Cities. Gilbert is beautiful but what's the point of living there if you can't enjoy it because people are racist and homophobic.
