It’s easier to get Amex Platinum than their credit cards. Lenient underwriting. Just cause it’s a charge card (now hybrid) and traditionally you’d have to pay the balance in full. People with paid charge offs/lates from not too long ago with mid 600s got platinum cards. Just cause of all the hype the platinum gets, it feels like you need an excellent credit but approvals may surprise a lot of people. haha.. Good video btw! 😃👍🏼

For Amex platinum? Even with a thin credit history?
@SamSung-jv3jm2 жыл бұрын
One of my credit cards is the Amex Optima card. Its their "second chance" credit card for previously Amex defaulted cardholders. I see very limited videos on this card. It isnt a rewards card and it has a $59 annual fee. But Im so glad to be welcomed back into the Amex family after 7 years of tarnished status. After 12 months, I am able to apply for their regular cards again. My credit score is now at 720, so hoping to get the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card when my 12 months on the Optima is finished. To the Young Ones out there , please be careful with your credit as it can set your financial life back many years.

I have a credit score of 838 and as any normal person who’s achieved that score will tell you - never pay to have a credit card. I use my Costco Citi card on every purchase and bill I can - I’ve paid $0 in interest and $0 in annual fees. I get a massive refund check (cash) every year. Don’t make it more complicated than it needs to be - never pay an annual fee.
@alvaradoalberto7 Жыл бұрын
That depends on the type of person and what that person needs. I have a score in the same vicinity as you and I have my Venture X with a $395 annual fee and has way more benefits than a no annual fee card will ever have. Your style is different and it’s just that, different… and different does not mean better.

Why would you apply for a secured card in the first place?? With a credit score like that you can easily apply for the Discover card which has a 5% cash back, and as for the Discover it secured credit card it only gives you a 1.2% cash back.

Good video and info but you have to keep in mind that credit scores aren't everything. It's your overall credit profile that really matters. You can have a 800 credit score and get denied for a card. You can have a 670 score and get an Amex Platinum. Income, issuer rules, credit mix, age of credit, etc... Play a role in getting approved for credit cards as well but having a good/excellent score is always a good thing

@lifemakesmelaf Жыл бұрын
Fidelity Investments has a credit card that's 2% back on everything without an annual fee. If you want the cash back and don't shop at Costco, that could be a good option. If you do travel at least once a year or so, though, I think the travel credit cards go a lot further. At least when using Chase Sapphire travel portal, those points are worth 1.5x more. So you might end up getting a free flight every time you fly even if it isn't super often.

At the beginning, the credit card companies make most of their money from swiping fees from merchants. Amex, for example, puts you in “Pop up Jail” if you don’s speaks as much as they want you to, They consider you an “Unprofitable customer” and cancel sign up bonuses. I believe that their profits is 20% carry over balances interest, and 60% swiping fee. But great video overall!

Venture X is better than the Reserve and Platinum. The annual Venture X benefits are easy to use lump sum credits which are actually good (unlike monthly retailer credits) so the year 2+ renewals are essentially free. Use the various CFU/Flex and narrow or "rotating category" cards where appropriate, but the VX has free lounge access, its own good categories, and you still get 2% on EVERYTHING else when no isolated category matches with one of your specialty cards. For example, I can use my VX at "warehouse clubs" and their cheaper gas stations. On top of that, I applied when they still had the 100,000 point ($1000) bonus.

I have 4 cards with lots of credit and a 659 score, and I'm being offered hard to get cards. Score is only part of their determination. I reamly love your taste. You and dayana plays both side with the chase freedom unlimited vs thd flex which i agree with. While choosing cards come down to yoye lifestyle, i think the ublimited is superior to the flex and dont get why so many youtubers love the flex. Flex's rotating categories arent always great and the ones that are like amazon you can just get other cards for. Unlimited is one of the best catch all cards you can posdibly get. Funny enough i didnt get my first credit card till a year ago. An amazon prime rewards. I actyzlly had a credit score in the 500s(no credit) i was applying for the amazon secured and accidently applied for the amazon prime rewards and got it. I was stunned. I think its because ive been spending a lot on amazon for years. They gave me a 1k limit. In 2 months i had a credit score in the mid 600s applied for both the chase freedom unlimited and amex blue cash preferred and was approved for 1k limits. Within 3-4months i had a credit score in the 700s. Its been8-9 months now since my first card and my credit score jusr hit good(the mid 700s) and i have a 2k limit on all cards. Not much, but still.amazing cobsidering all 3 cards shouldnt of been able to qualify for till now much less at 500
