9:55 this is what I've been wanting to see! All the 18V tools with a 5-cell packs are beating the 12V tools with 6-cell packs (tied for Makita). And that's with the M12 using the better Samsung 25S cells. I wish brands would put better cells in their slim packs.

These are useful when angle grinders are just too big or cumbersome. For example, I had to cut out my dishwasher because of clearance issues (height was actually slightly bigger than floor to counter clearance), and I used the cut off tool with guard to minimize collateral damage. I did use angle grinder w/ abrasive wheel for a couple unreachable parts, but with angle grinder alone, the dishwasher stainless tub is very little resistance and was harder to control in such a small space with a variable substrate.

I’m going to keep it a year in hopes we see a M18. Maybe at that point Makita releases a pouch cell or at the very least 21700s. If not I will test it like you said with another brands 21700s
@toolscientist
@toolscientist 10 ай бұрын
@Tools-Tested I'm very skeptical of 21700s making it to LXT. Makita users have been asking since 2018. I think there's too many small issues that add up to Makita not wanting to do it: incompatibility with X2 tools; possibly overdriving existing tools; extra mass that the connectors weren't designed for; and extra components needed inside the pack. LXT packs have 3x30A fuses in parallel, a 60A mosfet, and 2 current shunts in parallel. A 21700 LXT would prob need 5-6x fuses, 2x mosfets, and 3-4 shunts. If you look at all the recent LXT exclusive tools, they're mostly light weight. This cutoff tool, one-handed recip, mini chainsaw, pruning shears, ratchet, small rotohammer (~20% lighter than the small XGT rotohammer). Bigger LXT batteries don't really fit into that picture. However, they have recently announced a 12V pack that's almost certainly using 21700s, so who knows. Makita is always hard to predict.

Freaking awesome video. I’ve already seen TTCs tests on these and ever since I’ve been anxiously awaiting your review. Thank you so much, it’s really neat to get your take on tools as well. I have the Ryobi cutoff and their “right” angle die grinder. I picked up a bunch of the new 6AH HP batteries for a song earlier this year and they both run pretty good on those. I dislike Dewalt as a whole, nothing logical really, they just don’t do it for me, but there’s no denying that thing is an absolute beast! However what surprises me the most is the Ridgid. That thing has got the smallest motor on it and yet makes the most power or nearly the most power and it’s often really cheap. I actually put all my Ridgid tools in storage as I’m trying to pair down my number if active battery platforms, but damnit that Ridgid makes me want to bring the batteries back out. Sadly none of these other brands make a right angle die grinder that’s worth anything except Ryobi, at least as far as I’m aware. I’d love for Ridgid to come out with a right angle grinder as well. Or better yet, Milwaukee release a new grinder and cutoff tool that doesn’t suck, preferably on M18. Damn you Ridgid!!!!!
@Tools-Tested
@Tools-Tested 10 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yep 110% that Ryobi right angle is awesome. If Ridgid used a similar motor in a 90 it would be crazy. I really hope Milwaukee steps it up and give us both of those tools in M18, thats what everyone wants. On a side note I do have the new Bosch right angle, im curious if it will beat the m12 version.

I feel like the manufacturer could chunk up these cut off tools just a tad more, sacrifice size for more power! I'd be ok with esp dewalt having the current cut off as it's 'compact' cut off while adding a slightly larger model. ESP Makita on the XGT line, the LXT is WAY over priced for the performance with the old 18650 cells. The XGT needs to smoke everything currently existing

DeWalt had issues with their 10ah packs because they were asking too much out of them lol. For metabo 5.5ah should be the most powerful 10cell pack since they use 30T cells
