As a Rev main since EoD I can already confirm this within the first handful of seconds watching this video. If you want to get into Rev in large scale WvW this is a GREAT way to start! Crazy dps potential! Lots of fun. For the times you need to run Herald give main hand mace + sword for more AoE. It won't compare to GS, but the mace 2 is nice for blobs & blasting for extra might.

Important to add that GS3 and Nomads advance do not require a target, and so can be used to reposition or escape if the group is being overrun. Also you can swap to Blue skills in Alliance stance and spam Treesong for some easy condi cleanse if under heavy pressure and supports are dead. Vindi hits like a truck, and as someone with 2k hrs on WvW Herald zerging, I have no intention of turning back.

I've played WvW on and off for years now. I like the gameplay but I started on daredevil as a beginner, yeah died... a lot. In fact, I died so much that I just assumed that it happened like that with everyone. I was also terrified to run around alone because I thought, being a crap player, I'll just keep getting owned (which was what always happened when I was alone). And then, a couple of months ago I started to play vindicator and really like it so i learned it a bit. THEN, a couple of days ago I came across your video and thought, "hmm, it's been a while, let me see what this vindicator can do." On my very first trip to the keep, I got surprised by a couple of players. They knocked me off my mount so I had to fight, and I won, against two players! I was astounded as I had never won against anyone in a one-on-whatever situation. I just did what i do with mobs and wow, this hammer vindicator really delivers. Now I love WvW way way more.

I just got into wvw and it wasn't working well on my new Harbinger.... watched this video and swapped to a Rev alt. It's so fun! Still a lot for me to learn but the simplicity let's me focus on the commander, timing, and positioning. Thanks!

interesting build! i've been playing hammer gs vindi since it released in wvw, i use a different build that is tankier but less damage than this one (using the dodge that increases boon duration of party members by 1 second). it is extremely fun when you get on the spam dodge train, then at the end you have all boons at their maximum duration.

I've just discovered a love for vindicator (despite the lack of the utilities I'm used to as an engi main). I'm hyped to try this! Herald is palatable compared to most supports, but now I can Super Mario my way around the battle

I always found it cool that hammer is meta on rev in wvw but never got around to set it up and try it out as i only play wvw sporadically and prefer condi with my one rev. But seeing as vindi hammer rev looks even more fun than the herald version and the build is viable still after some nerfs, now might be the time! And i think by now it's fair to say that anet is fine with hammerrev being the zerging build and likely won't nerf it too hard in the future. That's something i'm always scared of when going for a new build.

JW as a new player who is lvling can I skip the story that begins when you get a message in your mail box and do it later own after I hit 80? or is it important to do whilst lvling? thanks

Yes. You can skip the entire story and play the game however you want. I had all the mounts, and legendary armor, before I ever did the beginner story.

You could definitely do that. The fundamentals of the build stay the same. But gear is flexible
