This is a much better format of instructional video from tactical. Hopefully next mini seminar can be like this. Matt and Tim fish while talking helps the viewer to understand so much more easily. Might catch one too to proof the point.

Love your videos !! Matt and Tim don't talk down to people and everything is explained with great detail. I love that you share all your gear and that you share your techniques. Has made me a better fisherman in just the few months since I started prescribing to your channel. I wish there was a split screen sometimes so that I could see the technique with the gear in action.

Great information Tim! I've experimented with all kinds of plastics, but never thought of using a swimbait on a dropshot. I can see the different ways to fish it, because of your visual demonstrations. I appreciate all the videos you two share because there is a finominal amount of knowledge in the videos you present. I have become a better fisherman, and conservationist because you gave back! Thank you!

For a budget finesse rod you guys should really look into the st Croix eyecon 7’6” medium light extra fast. For 130 it is incredibly sensitive and light. It’s designed for walleye but it is perfect for Ned’s tubes and drop shots as well as tiny Swimbaits. It’s not easy to find a medium light over 7’ for a reasonable price so this is an amazing option for anglers on a budget who like long rods like me. Please check it out, I think it’s a good step up from an Sox due to the sensitivity and length

Tim - so much info I had to watch it twice and still feel I missed a lot. Thanks for another great instructional. I concur with OtterleeArtward - I like this style of video where you explain while fishing better than the ones where it's just you, or you and Matt, sitting in the boat talking - though I've learned boatloads from those videos, too. Now if I could just successfully apply what you've taught..

No secret is safe from you guys! Always love the content. Have been fishing this technique on Erie for years. One other thing we do, especially when fishing 35’+ is throw on a 1oz wait and reel the bait directly over the bottom, ticking the whole time. Sounds crazy but it’s great when they’re glued to bottom in a finesse bite

You can fish from the bank no problem. Bout 5 years ago I was fishing every week and mainly from the bank. One trick a friend taught me was to use a splitshot weight clipped to the end of your line. That way when the weight got hung up you just pull till the weight slides away. First time I showed my stepdad how to drop shot from shore he caught 6 bass in an hour during a spring morning. Average was maybe a pound or so.

Do you know the difference in NRX and GLX as far as materials used, I don’t with your access maybe you do thanks love your videos
@unclegreg51295 жыл бұрын
How well would an NRX 852s work for dropshotting compared to the 822s? I already have the 803s but Im trying to decide between the 822s and 852s for dropshot, NED, and shakeyhead. Im on a kayak so Im trying to minimize the number of rods I carry.
@tacticalbassin5 жыл бұрын
I (Matt) use the 852 to dropshot a lot. Its no where near as technique specific and I'd definitely recommend using the heavier Trokar dropshot hook as opposed to the Mosquito light since you won't have nearly as much give in the rod. The perk though is exactly what you mentioned, it will work for the other techniques as well. I have no problem setting a 3/0 or 4/0 round bend shaky head hook with the 852 but still manage to keep the dropshot fish pegged with appropriate gear.

Would this work on a bober to keep it suspended
@jfezatte5174 жыл бұрын
No. First, lose the bobber immediately lol, the splash & the shadow from the bobber are more likely to scare bass away than intrigue them. As far as the presentation, the bait hangs by the nose so hanging from a bobber the bait would just hang vertically in the water nose up/tail down. In other words would look like a dead minnow. The weight hanging below the bait keeps the line tight & the bait in place. It's definitely worth learning the technique for those tough picky bass that don't seem to want anything at all. It allows you to place your bait in specific spots & hop it around, rather than just swimming it thru/around the strike zone over & over. No need for 10-20 casts, you just place it in key spots & if no bites within 1-2 drops you keep it moving using process of elimination until you find em. The only technique that allows you to control every single aspect of your baits presentation, from how high it sits in the water column to amount of action. I prefer angry reaction bites all day, I love my Keitech swimbaits & rarely set them down, but I learned my lesson years ago, never underestimate how vital it is to have on that day you needed it! Could very well make the difference between going home skunked & going home with a new PB!
@johnbruce53205 жыл бұрын
how do you store your dropshot rods without tangling up your weight line?
@Tom30135 жыл бұрын
John Bruce I put a piece of velcro around the butt of the rod. Then store the weight inside the Velcro when not using. Otherwise you get huge tangles with the weight wrapping around the line and rod.
