Im so happy to have found your channel, there is really not a lot of information about "Backyard Duck's" there is tons on chickens but not ducks ... so thanks for this. I have 4 duckings that need a pen but Im still struggling about how and what to do for them.

What kind of ducks do you have? Im considering getting one of these and it looks like they all fit in there no problem.

We have three Welsh Harlequins, and recently added three Anconas. They all go in at night no problem. I would not have anymore than 6 though.

This was really helpful! I've been searching far and wide for a solid duck coop. It looks like you have neighbors pretty close to your duck coop. How have the noise levels been with your ducks? That's my greatest concern.

We have Welsh Harlequins, and they are pretty quiet. They pipe up when I first come outside, but then go back to a quiet murmuring. No complaints from the neighbors....Research your duck breeds first because some breeds are loud.

Can you share the inside dimensions? Also, how did you make your duck run? I’m in South Florida, so much rain, sun, predators!

The interior dimensions are 39.4 x 31.5 inches, and we placed the house within a 8 x 8ft poultry pen from tractor supply and we covered the pen with a tarp to provide shade and visual cover from the raptors. (If you purchase the poultry pen, just make sure the hardware is included. Tractor Supply was having some issues with the vendor that supplies it, and some of the units were arriving without the hardware to put it together).

Maybe you've already explained this, but why did you choose to have ducks rather than chickens? I'm not sure if I'm ready to add poultry to my property but I'm thinking about what would be the best fit. Ducks intrigue me since they are supposed to be less destructive to plants and I might want to free range them from time to time.

Well, the short version is my daughter is allergic to chicken eggs, but she can eat duck eggs no problem. Added benefits include larger, more nutritious eggs, pest control (including slugs and snails), weed sprout control, the are more temperature tolerate, duck pool water is excellent liquid fertilizer, and if you have a male duck, they don't cock-a-doodle-do at all hours of the day...Though if you plan to free-range them and your vegetable garden is ground level they will try to eat it. But if you put a little fence around it they won't be able to get in because they can't fly (Muscovy's are the exception). Chickens can hop a fence and scratch up the soil. Hope this helps :)

How many ducks do you have in that setup?

I have 3 welsh harlequin ducks, and I'll be adding another 3 soon.

Where do you feed them?

The house is located in the corner of the duck run enclosure, and we place there feed bowl and water in the opposite corner of the enclosure.
