I think you played really good and made nearly the best plays out of it. I’m really impressed❤

Nice game, there's some nuances to be considered that felt.. off 1) I don't like sword reveals with Ecaz. Quartermaster is fairly weak. Show of Strength can be good but without a setup to play it regularly, its pretty bad. You want 2 persuasion reveals as your lategame plan almost always revolves around buying SMFs; 2) Going HC over Mentat at 6:49 is the play, as you point out yourself. HC is quite important as it fuels the standard lategame plan of SMFs 3) Definitely should have held off on the highliner. With mentat, blue access and intrigue, it's completely over the top. Might be the move that cost the game 4) 8:00: This is where the rest of the chain comes off imo. You go out of your way for a pretty bad card in the situation (Show of Strength), get worried about having too few playable cards in your deck and trash a Convincing Argument. This means you have 2 1-Persuasion card in your deck that could have been 2 persuasion. The play is to buy a liaison and trash the experimentation (going to Carthag over Arrakeen) - you are just about done researching anyway 5) 17:14: Here your decision to dillute your persuasion comes back to haunt you. Kit+Experimentation to Research station with a better deck is definitely the play, as drawing into 3 persuasion or a diplomacy ends the game.

Yellow and green both had a very bad start, so it made up for your dubious deck building choices (I don't want to be harsh, it happens to me as well). In the end, it made the game closer. Gg!

yeah almost everyone had both faction cards first round, pretty strange opening

Haha. Man, if you never try you'll never know! I think some good ecaz players swear by committing heavy to deck building. This is one of them. Just the line to draw... I think needs refinement. I think I was close to winning it as well

Here's my bashing after just 1 hour! 6:38 I don't really understand why matija doesn't go for Holtzman. He had an awful hand, he went for High Council, had the spacing bump intrigue in hand for swordmaster money next round, he's playing Leto, so it's an easy way to 10 VPs round 7 thanks to his ring, and he never really spent that spice. It's a huge blunder. Also I think you should've gone for Holtzman there. You still keep 2 spice for Private Army, have solari for High Council later, and you can draw into your graft combos more likely. A side note: trashing Industrial Espionage with Dissecting Kit after 1 use is valid: IE gives you 1 specimen (refund basically), draws a card (to replace itself as if you didn't have it in your deck, but of course you can only later see the other card, but you don't lose on hand size playing DK) and gives you a research (which is a nice extra).

This is alot more mild than I expected. Yeh. I think the holtzman line is better. I think I was bit too obsessed w the first genetic marker

@felkerdavid The fact that Holtzman play would turn out to be better this game does not make it necessarily a better play. In general I dislike going for passive strategies from position 3 and at that time I had the best setup for getting influence and conflict points (with most resources, fremen camp, in the shadows, my signet). I was completely set up to take 7th conflict and if I didn't draw so many conflict intrigues, I would've needed that spice for highliner. What ended up happening this game was that I got screwed over by 1 in 5 stage 3 conflict which effectively gave me 0 points and had there been any other conflict, I would end up on 11. I encourage you to avoid calling other players plays huge blunders if only basis is that they don't agree with your playstyle.

@@ahmicmatija Didn't mean to offend or shittalk. I didn't talk about grabbing Holtzman in retrospect. I had your specific hand in context and oftentimes if you can go for a safe way (= more deterministic) to win a game, it's the better option. Going all in on a 1 vp or tier III combat once you have enough troops/resources piled up is a nice way to seal the deal with a TSMF engine. Also with ITS, Surgeon and ring, you'd be guaranteed to hit all VP tresholds by round 7.
@ahmicmatija Жыл бұрын
@@felkdav I think that my probability to win this game with or without buying Holtzman there is roughly equal. I felt like in this case there were a lot "contested points" to go after and playing like that is more high risk/ high reward but also allows more outplay potential.
