For Begg I think it’s not necessarily the ascetics but the D2 steel. Especially for the $120 knives.

yea i agree. d2 isn’t a problem but just not for $120. at $120 you’re talking an s30v native 5 with $30 to spare, a k390 delica, a hogue deka in magnacut, a lot of s35vn knives, etc

Kizer please give us a 3" Doberman!!! What a beautiful design, just bigger than i like carrying. Really hope companies stop making all these button locks that fail next year and start spinning off the much much better compression lock or even more cross bar locks. I'd even be happy with more liner locks, button locks are not my jam.

I love the Riff. Got that same version back in September and it has been the only knife in my pocket since. It's a little thick behind the edge. Not very slicey, but I can live with that. There's just something about the feel of that one. I can't put it down.

The lock on the civivi vision is so good and yes the blade shape is amazing, I'd like to see the lock on a more workman like knife blade. Something for picking and prying with. I personally think super thin slicey knives have been explored now at the detriment of stronger thicker blades. I've done an cutting audit now for a bit and I find myself going back to my Saber ground Delica because sometimes you just have to pry the lid of a paint can.

The Vision FG is currently top of my list to buy after Christmas. I held one in a shop in September. Loved the feel but just wasn't doing it for me. Then the ultem dropped. Don't have any ultem yet. Can't resist that one. Agree about the holes though.

Another great set of knives. The Civivi Vision FG is the best Civivi knife in my collection (and I have a lot of Civivi knives). In fact, I bought two - the all black version and the Damascus version. Both are fantastic knives. I also have the Sentinel Strike and the Valkyrie (Seax version). Both great knives.

Glad to see the Gator on this list. Man I love that knife! I think the Vision is going to make the top of a lot of lists this year. It’s amazing. I’m one of those sick freaks that puts a lanyard on a lot of knives because I carry my knife in a narrow tool pocket. I wish the vision had a lanyard post/hole. Great list!

I am super finicky about the function of pocket clips, and that tab on the doberman clip would be a complete dealbreaker for me. I actually didn't try a single knife from this list this year, lol. Not many of these caught my attention aesthetically, or they had some design elements I just don't care for. I do need to try out a Vision though. I do like their looks and I've heard so much about them at this point that I can't ignore the hype anymore. I just wish they had other color options.

Wayne some great knives there. For me bestech, kubey, kansept, qsp, ruike and even sencut are killing it with the budget knives. I do love the civivi vision and the Bhaltiar. That's an awesome beast from civivi. My favorite new knife in this category was probably the oknife rubato tanto bar lock with red gmascus scales. It's a banger. Merry Christmas blade brother.

My only criticism of the Vision FG which limits the fidget factor for me is the jimping on the lock. It may just be me but the jimping doesn’t grip so I have to press with the tip of my finger too much. I’m considering taking a file to it to rough it up a bit but will break the coating likely.

You get used to it, keep using it and flicking it. It takes time but after some time you'll get used to it. Even if you carry it a day or two take a break for a day and then go back. Your finger will build up to it​@@ElricESR

Harbor Freight totally knocked off that Begg knife. It's pretty uncanny how similar they are.

Frankly, Harbor Freight did it better. For half the price, you get carbon fibre inlays and a milled clip. And the HF Icon is slightly larger and fits better in the hand. The impressive part is that a tool retailer released a knife of that quality. The Begg Knife is nice. But it’s overpriced for the materials you get. There are better options at that price point.

the button on my Valkyrie fails consistently. both in lock out, and the button itself will come loose and fall off. Very poorly built from Vosteed unfortunately.
