Here is RedLetterMedia's updated list of TNG picks (minus the Season 1 video) , now with honorable and dishonorable mentions. If they talked about it enough for me to figure out the title and episode, whether because it was good or bad, it's now listed. Because I obviously have too much time on my hands. Mike 1. The Best of Both Worlds (1 and 2) - 326-401 2. The Drumhead - 421 3. Tapestry - 615 4. Disaster - 505 5. The Nth Degree - 419 6. The Game - 506 7. Darmok - 502 8. Timescape - 625 9. Conundrum - 514 10. Future Imperfect - 408 Rich 1. The Measure of a Man - 209 2. Deja Q - 313 3. Chain of Command (1 and 2) - 610-611 4. Cause and Effect - 518 5. Who Watches the Watchers? - 304 6. Booby Trap - 306 7. First Contact - 415 8. The Next Phase - 524 9. All Good Things... - 725-726 10. Yesterday's Enterprise - 315 Honorable Mentions The Inner Light - 525 (why Picard plays a flute) Menage a Troi - 324 (Luwaxana and Troi kidnapped by Ferengi) Half a Life - 422 (Luwaxana's new man is going to kill himself at 60) The Most Toys - 322 (Some jerk steals Data) Final Mission - 409 (Picard and Wesley trapped in a cave) Clues - 414 (Everyone loses their memory of the past day) Remember Me - 405 (Beverly is alone as people keep disappearing) Data's Day - 411 (Data's diary) Thine Own Self - 716 (Data walk into a town and irradiates people) Pen Pals - 215 (Data contacts a young girl from a doomed race) Galaxy's Child - 416 (Geordi's Holodeck girl shows up for real) Relics - 604 (Scotty returns!) A Matter of Time - 509 (Matt Frewer pretends to be from the future but he's from the past) Dishonorable Mentions Code of Honor - 104 (Needed the Gorn fight music) Hide and Q - 110 (Q offers Riker the powers of a Q) Interface - 703 (Geordi chases his mom's ghost) Justice - 108 (Wesley Crusher must be put to death for his crimes) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now here is your list: Half a Life, Darmok, Family, The Drumhead, Chain of Command, The Inner Light, I Borg, Best of Both Worlds, The Offspring, Measure of a Man, All Good Things. Honorable Mentions: First Contact, Birthright, Yesterday's Enterprise, Tapestry, Data's Day, Hollow Pursuits, Where No One Has Gone Before, Lessons. Now here is your list once I remove every episode RLM already covered: Family, I Borg, The Offspring, Honorable Mentions: Birthright, Hollow Pursuits, Where No One Has Gone Before, Lessons. I watched your video knowing you were an RLM fan and trusting that you wouldn't just rehash the same episodes they did, and every one that popped up from their lists got you a demerit. It's not looking good, my dude. Yeah, you couldn't outdo them, but you could have tried to do something different. They beat you to it and did it better, funnier, and with more personality, this one was a bad idea from the word go. But only insane nerds like me will give a damn, so who cares.

the biggest problem I have with "The Inner Light" is that the whole point was to impart picard with the alien culture, but instead of getting any idea about their culture, we just get picard studying soil and being with his new family. All we really see of their culture is just 1 song, the aesthetics, and... oh no that's it.

Star Trek came out at a time when people were still able to believe humanity could rise to achieve any great thing. Decades later, we just lost a two decade long war, the president left thousands of American’s to die, and he checked his watch during the mourning ceremony. We’re worse off than ever, and Star Trek is seeming more fiction than science, especially with the latest iterations being absolute bastardizations of everything the series stood for.

I’m surprised at the lack of love for Q from BGE. Q to me, represents all of Star Trek. He is the mysteries they are searching for. If Q was fully understood, their mission would be complete with nothing left to discover. The way that Q plays off this by being antagonistic, showing that the mysteries of the universe won’t just let themselves be discovered, or take it laying down. Their goal is dangerous, unending, undefeatable, and laughs in Picard’s face for how pointless the endevour is. Yet Picard keeps going. Also too Q vs Picard’s character dynamics are some of the strongest in any show ever. They being said there is 1 or 2 Q episodes that kinda miss this mark, but Q Who? Would probably be 2 or 3 on my list for all these reasons

I know how unlikely it is that you will take this advice (I nearly didn't myself) but if you want good, new material, you have to trust the fans. Star Trek Continues, A World Enough and Time, The Holy Core, and First Frontier are some of the best the franchise has had to offer despite not being official. You will be surprised at how good these are if you give them the chance to impress you.
@malcolmreid86323 жыл бұрын
Do any of these tie in to any of the other star trek series? I’ve only seen TNG and DS9
@johnfarrell39583 жыл бұрын
@@malcolmreid8632 The first two are TOS related, but the stories are so self contained that it really shouldn't matter. The other two are their own thing. The Avalon universe has a lot of vignettes that are great and self contained, but if you want something that picks up right after DS9, Hidden Frontier is your jam...if you can tolerate a very rough start in terms of visuals and acting.

VOY is an interesting case, but after watching it all through myself I give a lot of leeway to Janeway for managing the situation as well as she did in the borderline hopeless situation they found themselves in. This was a great change of pace, good stuff! If you’re itching for good Star Trek content, I’d highly recommend checking out the book Willful Child: A Search for Spark. It’s a hilarious spoof written by a huge Star Trek fan and notable author, Steven Erikson, that pays homage and is essentially a love letter to Star Trek, while being a really entertaining and compelling story on its own. I dare say the main character would be an out of park grand slam for you. He’s the Captain, comes off as a total fool and cocky asshole, but is actually very intelligent in his unorthodox problem solving methods. They even fight Nazi’s at one point.

I'm at only your 2nd video list as I write this, I am betting your favourite episode is "the inner light". Edit: Oh my, it only got no. 6 :o inner light is in the top 3 and more often than not 1st place of TNG episode for many fans, happy to be surprised and see this episode still get a rightful place on the list:) My favourite is among the inner light or the one where data creates a daughter, that one gets me choked up every time. The measure of a man where data's rights are decided is amazing too. Much as I love TNG and Picard is the best captain hands down, I do prefer DS9 as a series though.

Excellent video. Brought back some great memories. It’s a shame the newer series took a flaming dump all over the franchise. In measure of a man, the idea of turning androids into slaves was deplorable but in Picard, we have the Plastic People. I disliked Deanna Troi’s character for much of the series, especially the beginning but one episode in season 4 (ep 17) called Night Terrors gave me nightmares.
