@@AfricaTwin-Stuff OK if you said so , but for me it's very clear when you turned the wheel @ 18:47 , There is a change in the leveling of the edge of the rim . I like to focus in the edge of the Rim, when I do wheel balance by myself. Good luck 👍
@grahamglencorse307 Жыл бұрын
Yes it is easy to see when the wheel is spun. Get the dial indicator from the shed, or just brace a screw driver on the suspension arm to the edge of the rim. It’s a bit like the puppy’s gonads.
@AfricaTwin-Stuff Жыл бұрын
Ok. You both have me intrigued. So I went and had a look. I can see why you thought the rim was bent. But it’s not the rim. That part of the tyre hasn’t seated into the rim properly, causing the “bump”. This issue usually resolves itself on the first ride but if not I’ll over-pressure it to get it to seat. Thanks.
@AfricaTwin-Stuff Жыл бұрын
Ok. The saga continues. I seated the tyre which took out most of the “bump” when spinning the wheel. But I was wrrr, I was wrrrr, I was mistaken. There is also a slight buckle in the rim in that spot. Luckily I’m not concerned. I’ve had worse with no I’ll effect. Thanks for the adventure!

Nice job. I’m at the point where I need to replace both front and rear after the latest summer road trip and I have heard good things about those Michelins. I have ordered a set of Dunlop Mutants though, thinking I’ll give those a try. We get a lot of wet days on Vancouver Island and down into the north western states where we tend to go touring, and I do some gravel/logging roads on my NC similar to what you were riding on. Tyre wear is more dependent on variable factors than the tyre brand. I seem to be harder on tyres than others. The only way to truely compare is for two riders : - have the same bike and riding style - ride the same road roads - with the same temperatures - same speeds I got 11,000 km from my 6, which is a couple of thousand more than other tyres I’ve used. So I’m quite happy. You might get twice that under different conditions.
@FranticGuitar88 Жыл бұрын
I did the same with my DCT version and it was just as easy. I just wish that Honda used better rear swing arm with better adjusters. Even cheapo KTM390 has cast aluminium arm with much better adjusters.

Yes. The adjusters are ugly. That’s why I made my own from billet aluminium.

Road 6 is the only tire I've had so far on my '22 NC750X DCT, I will definitely be using it again. How many miles did you achieve on yours? You didn't need to replace the front?
@AfricaTwin-Stuff Жыл бұрын
Rear 11,000km. But I’ve learned from past experience you can’t judge tyre wear from someone else unless you - have the same riding style - travel the same roads - in the same conditions. Having said that, I’m typically harder on tyres than most people I know. Front lasts a lot longer than rear so it’s rare I change both together.

Doesn't "Mongrel Dog" change his road bike tyres himself on his touring adventures using the bike stand to break the bead? That dude is truly resourceful. My BMW S1000R was reversed into last week and looks like being written off. Looking at a new CB 500X as a replacement.
@AfricaTwin-Stuff Жыл бұрын
Arrrr. But Mongrel Dog is a REAL man! People who ride NC Hondas are not. I did a trip with a mate (“In search of the hidden giant” vid) where he punctured his Aftrica Twin rear tyre. It took three of us to break the bead using the side stand method. Then three of us to wrestle the tyre off then on again. Not fun.

Well … they are rated purely as a road tyre. Therefore the carcass is thinner than a dual purpose tyre. Therefore more prone to stone punctures.
