Pro tip : you can do straight leg raises, you just need to stay in hollowed body position ( pelvic tilt ) whole time. When your lower back hurts, it means that you are not engaging your abs properly. To check your hollow body hold, put elastic band or towel under your lower back, before going into the hollow body hold. Now have someone pull on it perpendicularly ( 90 degrees ) to your body, when you are performind hollow body hold. If the band/towel is slipping, you are not creating sufficient tension in your abs

Good for your back and hips.And smashes the abs.Especially when you get someone to throw your feet back

Just do v sits or whatever they're called, crunching not only with your leg but also with your upper body, if anything else isn't working

The first variation trais hip flexor, the second abs. But you can't target lower abs since it's the same muscle. So it's a good excersise but bs reason why to do it. The lifting of the glutes from the floor so the abs contract is what trains the abs.

This just works one layer of ur abdominal muscles. Core is More meant for stability than pure flexion of ur body. It serves as that function too but stability and offsetting weight will better work ur core.

First method will work on inclined leg raise
@samsarayt960711 ай бұрын
I have a slipped disc and I usually do the first one you showed. After some time my back felt the stress and it often hurt doing leg raises. To reduce the pain, I changed by starting to put my hands in the back then started kicking just like how you showed in the second part. Yep, the difference was night and day and it did hit the abs even more. Thanks man. I thought I was doing the exercise wrong but it turned out my changes were actually correct. Will continue it even more.

@pelonete500010 ай бұрын
@@BULD0SIS you are correct, the abdominal " wall" is only one. But, if you stop working abs for , let's say, 3 weeks and then come back and do those kind of "leg raises" or reverse crunches, you will see that the next day you will be sore in the lower part of the abdominals and not the upper part. That is a way of proving that , yes, there is a way to work that part more than the upper one. I hope I explained myself . English is NOT may native lenguaje.

As a certified trainer and exercise science undergrad: Id always cue my clients to simply squeeze the glutes on the lowering phase of this workout. This automatically engages your core and keeps your lower back from arching Why put the hands underneath when you can develop the strength and stability in your lower body without your upper body helping?? Plus to add to the difficulty, keep the legs straight and raise your hips off the ground when you reach the height of the concentric phase Hope this helps you guys

I think the exercise you propose is much for the HIGHER ABS. Instead I'd encourage people to still do the leg drops with an emphasis on pressing their lower backs flat against the floor. I know it's not easy, constant core engagement is needed and frequent resetting of the back is needed but leg drops are surely hitting the LOWER ABS.
