6stringstanger just did the Firefly version of this guitar. I guess it's the "Explorer" time of year.

That’s interesting, Firefly hasn’t had them in stock for months. They’re actually going to drop an ML copy soon. Can’t wait to see the colors they go with

Been eyeballing that green westcreek revenge but they never have the green ones anymore

I think they’ll restock. They’ve been having success with it

@thetattedbaldguy I see the purple a lot but the green is almost never in stock these days, at least not when I look

Nice shootout mix, TBG! The HB is pricier and that neck dive issue needs addressing!

Thank you, my friend! These companies should be contacting you on how to properly balance these guitars!

Hey i recently purchased the Harley Benton explorer and I keep hearing things about the neck dive is it really that bad or an exaggeration I play a Flying V so I don’t mind neck dive but I was just curious
@thetattedbaldguy5 ай бұрын
Well I’m assuming you saw the neck dive test in the video. It’s certainly there, but I don’t think it’s severe enough to make the guitar unplayable or not enjoyable. If you bought from Thomann they have a great return policy, in the event you don’t like it

@@adrianado8295, the return policy is great if you live in Germany. If you live in the US, you will soon discover how expensive it is to ship a guitar overseas ($125-150 with USPS, which you pay for yourself as Thomann won't cover it) and how fun it is to fill out custom forms for Germany.

Thomann's return policy is great if you live in Germany. If you live in the US, you will soon discover how expensive it is to ship a guitar overseas ($125-150 with USPS, which you pay for yourself as Thomann won't cover it) and how fun it is to fill out custom forms for Germany. I know this because I'm about to return an EX-84 😡 Find somebody local with a Harley Benton you're interested in so you can try it out before ordering. Let my wasted $150 be a lesson to you all. I also own a WestCreek Revenge that I bought a few weeks ago and I am keeping it instead of the Harley Benton. No neckdive and much nicer neck. It's easy to swap pickups, impossible to swap necks (cos neither are bolt-on).
@thetattedbaldguy4 ай бұрын
This is a great comment. I didn’t realize they banged you on the return shipping. That certainly changes everything. Westcreek has continued to impress me. I just ordered their high voltage. I’m expecting good things
@MiserereMei4 ай бұрын
@@thetattedbaldguy, let us know how it goes with the High Voltage, cos I was very excited to get one, and just this week returned TWO because they're both incorrectly wired, which produces loud static when the pickup volume is up, and a very loud hum when the pickup volume is down. They both seemed properly grounded, so I'm guessing the input jack is wired backwards. The fact that both were incorrectly wired makes me think it's a batch problem. Good luck with yours! I'll consider reordering if I see the problem fixed cos the pickups sounded nice, and I'll be damned if I didn't look like a rockstar with that pointy thing slung across my shoulder 😄 Beware it weighs about a pound less than the Revenge and thus has some neckdive (which is alleviated by the fact that your forearm rests on the rear fin, pushing it down, thus elevating the neck).

I had the same experience with a damaged guitar from Thomann. They wound up giving me a gift card for half the price of the guitar that came damaged. I’m also in the US

At this point, for me to try a 7 string out that's left handed, Thomann seems to be the best bet moneywise.

It’s a shame left handed guitars are so difficult to come by. That being said, you’re exactly right

@@thetattedbaldguy I've only recently come across your content, I'm enjoying it. My grandfather warned me the moment he saw me grab the guitar that it was going to be more difficult for me, but then he just started calling me Hendrix. Have a good one, thank you for the info

Is that a pure white guitar or a little bit vintage white?
@thetattedbaldguy5 ай бұрын
I’m going to say vintage white. I held it up next to my white Jackson warrior and this definitely looked less white or had that weathered over time look

What about the best Explorer option for Under 1000? You got any recommendations?
@thetattedbaldguy4 ай бұрын
Yea, used LTD James Hetfield snakebyte with EMGs! You can find them on reverb about $900. LTD makes real solid guitars. My 2nd choice would be an x series Jackson Kelly for about $800 and spend the remaining $200 upgrading the pickups ! 🫡🤘🏻

It sounded great. But the thick neck and neck dive is a no go for me . the pro move for me would be some EMG's in the westcreek and some different tuning keys. I hate the kidney shaped tuners. LOL.
@thetattedbaldguy6 ай бұрын
I agree and that would absolutely be the pro move. The only annoying part would be shoving a batter in a cavity made for passive pickups. Good call on the tuners too
@therealgreenmonsta72646 ай бұрын
@@thetattedbaldguy good point. Duncan's would sound great too. That would certainly be a lot easier. I like the guitar tho. But I would definitely have to make those changes to be happy with it. If someone has the skills. It would save you hundreds.
