Misleading title. I added to my base Mac Mini M4, a Zike enclosure with a 4tb Orico nvme. I’m getting 3100 GBPS read and 3000GBPS write speeds. I hope you get those speeds when upgrading to the M4.

Your 2017 iMac does not support TB5. The 2500MBPS you get is TB3 or Gen3 TB4 speed. You can get those for much cheaper, particularly if you buy the case and Nvme m.2 ssd separately.

I appreciate the insight brother! I’ll be upgrading to M4 mini soon, so I bought it for that transition period. For now I know I won’t be operating at its highest capacity but still better than the old school Hard Drive 🫠

Watching this on my M4 Pro with attached 4tb ssd in Thunderbolt 5 enclosure that's hitting 6100mb/s read and write! 😀

the U34 8TB remains 2.4x more cost-effective than Apple’s 8TB SSD, costing 11 cents/GB compared to Apple’s 26.8 cents/GB. The U34 is a solid value alternative for high-capacity storage.

But my M1 Max 16 inch SSD speeds are 5000-6000 Mbps. How would this help? Is it Thunderbolt 5?

A lot of prayer to the Lord, and patience. With the 8bit camera it wasn’t too bad, now with 10bit computer starts melting lol

I don’t know about the best on the market. The SanDisk Professional 4TB PRO-G40 SSD gives you well over 2500MB/s over Thunderbolt 4 and this is pre built for around $350. If you build your drive with an NVMe M.2 drive you can get speeds up to 7000+. This is not what I heard or watched, this is what I know from doing it personally.
