WTF 3:10 fall, what a shame, she didn't even check on her horse if it is ok? The horse seemed little shaken, puzzled and that small ***** did not even care. What a shameful behaviour from a rider!

@@sea-fieldpony.4556 There's a lot we don't know about this situation. Some injuries are invisible... like spine and head injuries. Being able to see wouldn't reveal an injury like that. To her credit, she checked to see her horse was standing there before walking off. There's only a few second clip here...we don't know what happens after that... she may have gone back and cared for her horse. Without an opportunity to see everything, I'm willing to admit this may not be the whole story.

PS: Anything I say about a video of bad riding, I'd say the same thing (only much, much worse) if it were a video of me screwing up. Everyone makes mistakes. But most mistakes are avoidable w/practice & proper coaching. Why do people feel compelled to look down? I used to tell my students, "If you look at the ground, you end up on the ground." It's true. The other biggie is jumping before the horse does. Two riders do it at 4:42; one fell. Her horse went on & jumped beautifully on its own, nobody tugging at the other end of the reins. Here's hoping her coach talked the incident out w/her & she's learned not to "body launch" (as we used to call it). That's the #1 mistake I see: tensing up & jumping ahead of the horse. It NEVER ends well ~ in the ring, on the hunt field, cross-country, wherever. My most memorable body launch, I was around 18, schooling at home 1.40 meters (4'6" as we would've said back then) on a horse named Donald. I got tense, made my move & landed on the other side of the oxer without Donald. Yep. I've done it precisely once since b/c jumping w/out one's horse is SO not fun.

Hmm, I wonder if some verbal signals would help? Something the rider could say/shout that would mean: "Watch out, there is a big step down coming up". The horses legit can´t see it, so it is no wonder it´s giving them trouble

@@sea-fieldpony.4556 See, the brilliant part is that animals don´t understand English but if you tell a dog, "No, stop begging for scraps and go lie down in your dog bed right now!" chances are, the dog will stop and go lie down in the dog bed like you told it to. So the horse will hear keypoints like "Watch out", "step" and "down" and know, based on previous experience, what it means.

Others have already said it better, but the loser whose horse fell in the water~ stomped off & ignored the poor animal ~ people like that disgust me. I've been riding since before I could walk ~ 60+ years ~ taught as a child to NEVER put my own welfare before that of the horse. The one & only time I didn't take care of my horse after a mishap, I was in an ambulance, unconscious & headed for ER. Ha, ha! I've had very few falls & injuries b/c my father had me spend countless hours riding w/out stirrups + bareback & learning to FEEL the horse before moving on to whatever came next. Most accidents = bad riding, bad trainers, bad training. Bad luck is nobody's fault; definitely not the fault of the horse!

In the first one, it's usually better to hold the reins, both for your horse and poeple/horses around. Plus you can see the rider holded on the horse with his left hand for a long time and then, only for 2 horse steps, he fell and the bit was felt. The horse stopped as soon as he could. some of these what’s making them miss is the lack of accounting for any proper striding. That one especially that you see the most in these videos has a stride of 1 and a half if you watch which makes riding it properly incredibly difficult. as most of these riders are more focused on galloping up and trying to ride it in one stride rather than riding the drop properly. that’s my two cents anyway

That water jump was a real trap. The water color was too much like the surrounding ground and you can see that the horses thought it was still the ground that they were running on. It’s a miracle no one was hurt, or were they? This jump needs to be eliminated or redesigned so that more horses and riders do not fall into it.
