In the mid 70’s when my best friend and I were competing who was the best keyboard player of us two he was talking about how “great” Rick Wakeman with Yes was. I pulled out my ELP albums and he never went back!!!

thomas holland Wakeman helped turn Yes into one of the biggest bands on earth. But Keith Emerson was the biggest musician on earth!

You’re all missing who is playing bass on this.
@kratino Жыл бұрын
@@RMGCBG Wakeman was part of the mix in a guitar band. Emerson was the keyboardist in a keyboard-led band. HUGE difference. Keith composed about 80% of their work and played virtually every moment. No time to have a curry on stage while everyone else worked.

Worked at Armed Forces Radio and used Tarkus as transition music. Saw ELP in Austin, Texas in about 1977..great show, great music. I worked with an older woman who primarily listened to classical music and made her a mixtape of ELP. After listening in her car the first thing she asked was, "Who is the keyboard player?"

So great to see Keith having such a ball up there on stage. This version of the song has a totally different energy than the ELP version. Both are amazing, and as much as i love Greg Lake and his bass playing, I have to say I have never seen anyone play the bass like John Entwhistle did in this. Love it!! All the more lately I refer to this, and tell others. Fan Fare For The Common Man and America Played here highlight John Entwistle and Keith Emerson's, talent! Who fans, should all watch this video! Has got to be some of the most underrated I have ever known of. I stumbled on to this by accident in 2018, and never previously knew of this Band . John's playing is top world class here. Also advantages of this more modern day sound recording etc.. Like said, it's too bad didn't continue. A gift this group ever happened, even if very brief. Platinum to me I found out of this Band at all!
