I have an easy fix, barring any fancy text animations of course. If you have a slide that really need that extra something something, export that one slide as an image, then you can insert that image across the entire slide and no body will ever know. Unless they want to edit something. You can even still use one of the "safe" fonts after that, on top of the image, if you really need some text animations or whatever.

That's a great tip Luke, thanks for sharing! You are spot on. Cheers!

My thought was that the fonts offered up in the Master Slide font choices are fairly safe, like Century Gothic.

Yes, that's a pretty good rule of thumb for the most recent versions of PPT - but I would recommend always spot checking first, especially when going from PC to mac and vice versa.

Thank you for your videos very clearly explained. Could you please tell me how can I custom my fonts. I want the combination: Times New Roman (Titles) and Arial (texts) that is not available in the pre-set fonts. Cheers!

Thanks Galato! Yes, you can do to the Design tab, click on Variants, then Fonts, and then Customize Fonts. For more on customizing your fonts (as part of your PPT theme), check out my detailed article here: nutsandboltsspeedtraining.com/powerpoint-tutorials/custom-powerpoint-theme/

I got it on my phone, and signed in with my Microsoft account, and it had a lot of fonts, are those safe?

If you want to quickly test your fonts, you can see how to quickly replace them all using the Replace Font command. See our other video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoDNh4ehaLihf5Y

The slide title states '10 Virtually 100% Safe Fonts' but there are only 9 fonts listed.

Gah! Thanks for pointing out that typo...wish I could update the video, but YT won't let me. I'll just have to live with the error (eek!).

@@Nutsandboltsspeedtraining Couldn't the 10th font be the option of a "go around" with the PDF or image?

Ooh nice to have a list of the safe ones! Yes I agree that “embedding fonts” breaks things!
@Nutsandboltsspeedtraining6 жыл бұрын
You got it! Embedding fonts seems like a great idea...but it never really works out the way you want it too 😀. Thanks for the comment.

I've only had problems with embedded fonts going from PC to Mac and with non-TrueType fonts. PC-to-PC with TrueType fonts has always worked for me. This argument misses two key points. First, if you use slides only as a visual aid to your presentation and not as a crutch for the speaker, then chances are good you may be the only one using the slide deck. As such, you should always try to test equipment beforehand, and always have a backup plan. This happened to me last Friday. Laptop with Office 365 experienced and incompatibility with a projector. I tested before the presentation, discovered the problem, and used a version of the slide deck that was compatible with the older Office version on the other laptop available. Always test (if you can), and always have a backup plan. Second, if you intend for your slides to be standalone, changing to PDF or image format can work well (although converting each slide to images can really increase the file size). However, this won't work if your slide deck includes animations or transitions critical to convey content meaning. In that case, if you use PowerPoint 2013 or higher, you can also convert all of your text to shapes. It can be tedious, and you can no longer easily edit the text; but, you retain the look and feel of the font and can even keep some animations (although paragraph or word-level builds must be created manually).

Should I use Impact font type for texts?

Yes, I would say that Impact is pretty sure to work across all platforms/devices.

No animations of you save as a pdf
@Nutsandboltsspeedtraining6 жыл бұрын
Correct...animations will not save to a PDF. If you are trying to protect your presentation and have PowerPoint 2016, you can password protect it instead.
@Nutsandboltsspeedtraining6 жыл бұрын
The only step that gets you closer it to save it as a 'picture presentation,' which does allow for some transitions between slides (but still no animations).
