Any synthetic boot with conical studs. The current predators are great, for example. Of course boots with AG soleplates are literally made for AG pitches, but I guess you need a pair of boots suitable for both FG and AG. Most AG soleplates are ok on FG, the adidas AG soleplate is absolutely fine for example, I use it on FG occasionally, but if the pitch is wet, an AG soleplate would lose traction fast on natural grass.

Firstly, congrats to your son! That's fantastic. For me, the best boots no matter what the surface is are the boots that FIT the best. Once you've found the model (or a few most likely that fit well), you can get the AG version of those boots somewhere in the world. Thanks mate! I'd say that these are totally fine on most AG pitches, unless it's super shallow AG. If you're worried at all, just go with the AG model and you'll be sorted either way

My son used the very same pair for the first time this evening in training with his team (on a turf pitch) and had no issues other than some slight sole separation from the upper on the lateral side by the small toe on both boots. Either it is a prone stress area, or the glue does not hold well. He is waiting to hear back from New Balance on the warranty if the sole continues to separate. NB possibly only offers a 6-month cleat warranty for manufacturer defects, unlike Nike's two-year policy. Nonetheless, his feedback was positive: responsive spring, good lockdown, great turning and touch. His comparison is based against the Nike Phantom GX Elites and Tiempo Legend 9 AG boots he has been wearing for the past year. Just so you know, a laceless AG version of this boot is available.

noticed you didn't go with the wide fit variation this time. i get pain on the outside/lateral side of my midfoot in my current boots (phantom gx size 9, very snug). is the width still good on the normal width of these tekelas? i was thinking half size up (9.5) and wide variation

Hey Noah, I've been playing in these for a few weeks on AG. The soleplate has started to separate from the upper at the toe, which I've superglued back together. 1. @@NoahCavanaugh I went true to size. That may be the problem. I'm hoping that it's just a visual thing (weak adhesive) and not actually structural. Time will tell. But its annoying to have rubber pellets in the gap between upper and soleplate.
