Lovely video ! I spent my childhood in Ayer Tawar during the 70s , and left for Ipoh early 80 , it was the best years of my life ! The gong pian is the food I missed most ! Nowadays when I go to Ayer Tawar , I can’t find the shop selling this anymore , but the one from sitiawan taste nice as well !

Thank you for show casing this especially for someone living in SG. I spent alot of my holiday as a child in Ayer Tawar spending time with my grandmother. seeing the mee kicap really brings back alot of memories 🥲 not to mention the old well!! Back then there was no aircon in my ahma house and I loved showering in cold water by dunking bucket into this big concrete tank in the toilet. I haven’t gone back since my ahma passed away many years ago, probably more than 20y but after seeing this I really want to plan a trip back again. I don’t know if you remember but there used to be this shop facing the main road of Ayer tawar and they cooked some kick ass sweet and sour pork 😂 my parents would order that almost every time we went back and they also served this dish called “cha ju mien” which was like a soupy fried noodle

Glad that you enjoyed the video. We went back to Sitiawan and AT for Chinese New Year. I can only be back once a year to visit my father. If I'm not mistaken the restaurant you are referring to is Sin Han Xiong. It is a corner shop famous for it's sweet and sour pork and fish too. We always order those dishes whenever we are back home. Brings back so much memories. My mom used to ask us, the children, to cycle out to the restaurant to order the dishes on the nights that she didn't cook. It was always a treat.

@@journeywithallyomggggg I went to google maps to look up the restaurant and it really is that restaurant!!! We used to cycle there or would take joyrides as kids with our older cousins on their motorbikes to takeaway the food too! (Loved those motorcycle rides!) my grandma house was just nearby, maybe few streets away from the restaurant. I grew up eating there so often that when I was about to go to Australia to study, my mom spoke to the restaurant owner to ask if I could learn how to cook their sweet and sour and they showed us 😂 even told us to specifically buy some rabbit brand / logo chilli sauce which was what they used. Hahaha so many good memories! Thank you once again
