Thanks a lot this really helped me. I used 51,51,50,50,50,50,50,50, 40,40,40,40 for the cores, and set the vcore to 1.32 and CPU Load-Line Calibration at level 4 (unlike you in level 6). everything seemed OK, however, cinebenchr23 gave an error 5 min in. however occt successfully finished one hour test. so I guess its a success. (I tried 1.33 but it was the same with a bit higher temps. so I guess 1.30 or 1.32 should be ok right? ) my mobo is Asus rogstrix z690-A gaming wifi d4 by the way!

My 12700K needs 270W at lower vcore for 5ghz why's that so? My load voltage is 1.31V
@PabzRoz
@PabzRoz 2 жыл бұрын
For the 12700K setting any vcore lower then 1.29v in adaptive mode at 5ghz will be ignored. When setting the vcore in adaptive mode anything lower then the default v/f curve for the specified core ratio is ignored which is basically the same as leaving it on auto. Use negative offsets in adaptive mode to lower your voltage. And if you're seeing 1.31v in something like HWinfo it's not always accurate.
@techluvin7691
@techluvin7691 8 сағат бұрын
That’s “base clock adaptive voltage”. You’re running a static voltage to the CPU. Adaptive would be better with a negative offset. This brings the entire voltage curve down. If your power stages are getting that hot, you need a better board.

I have an MSI motherboard if you need help I don't mind commenting the steps you would take in detail. It's honestly really simple. Right now my OC is 53x for 3 P cores/ 52x for 8 P cores, 41x all E cores, 42x Ring, in adaptive mode @ 1.37v and score 25500+ in Cinebench R23 runs. Man i dont know whatever i do though any form of overclock it doesnt seem to set the manual voltages as a constant and everytime i run cinebench my temps are spiking 100 straight away as well, unless i push voltages super high to 1.4 plus but nothing seems stable under that and even when stable the temps sky rocket with a coolermaster argb360 aio as well and multiple fans in case too, ill did have a setting called intel ABT some turbo thing above asus multicorehancements but even with thay disabled didnt seem to change temps, and the voltages boost even if setting a static actual vrm core voltage of 1.38 lets say
@retractionmusic4972
@retractionmusic4972 10 ай бұрын
Tested now disabled IABT and put bclk 100 then disabled e-cores too, got p-cores all 49 on sync all cores, bin down disabled and ratio 40 and then also a slight undervolt of -50 then stressed on cpuz max v was 1.37 and max temp spike was 87/88 not going higher seems stable now
@retractionmusic4972
@retractionmusic4972 10 ай бұрын
Also I set my ddr5 xmp profile to I instead of II not sure if that'll have performance loss, but this seems stable I might try to do the p cores per core usage as well and keep the bin the same, LLC is on auto but my main goal was trying to lower my temps without any performance loss, I think the Intel ABT was a culprit of that

Leave your LLC on auto then try it again and see if it boots. If it does than find an LLC mode that works best for you. If that doesn't change anything try increasing the voltage a little. Not every 12700K is capable of the same overclock. Some processors need more voltage than other to achieve the same overclock. And some can overclock much better than others you might have just gotten a bad sample. If increasing the voltage doesn't help then dial back the core ratio some. It's all about finding the right settings that work for your specific processor and system.

@@0xNobody Crap I should of mentioned I have an MSI Z690 Edge. They handle LLC differently then ASUS and have an opposite scale. I leave my LLC on auto and it works perfectly fine. For me this is a daily 24/7 OC. Passed multiple stability tests including OCCT, AIDA64, Prime95, etc. for multiple hours. Highest temps in Cinebench R23 is 88c and 60-70c when gaming using a 280mm NZXT Kraken x63 AIO. Haven't had any issues or bsod. You can try adjusting the LLC yourself or raising the voltage a tiny bit. Dialing back the E cores to 40x or 39x might help as well. But to be honest I think I won the silicone lottery. I haven't seen many people get a stable OC similar to what I have.

Ignore this but leaving it up in case anybody else encounters this. I didn't check before I first came out of BIOS but my system had reset the XMP which was causing my CPU to under clock, I'm guessing because the RAM wasn't being fast enough. I went through the same steps but re-enablng XMP and it's worked. Max temp I was getting after a few runs of CineBench was 85°. Still early days but seeing if it's making any improvement.

@cas0r
@cas0r 2 жыл бұрын
16400 is definitely not a very good score for an overclocked 12700K. I get 16505 with no overclock at all (but a slight undervolt). Since I am aircooling my CPU I only overclocked it for testing reasons to allcore 4,9GHz and went up to 16930 points (with temperatures maxing out at 89C in prime95 small FFTs). 5,0GHz allcore ran stable in all benchmarks but kept crashing in real stresstests like aida64 and prime95 (I didn't play with the voltage, pretty sure that would've solved the problems), so in my case wasn't an option. I went with no overclock at all at the end because my main focus was on noise and thermals so I just stuck with a -0,085V offset and turned on thermal velocity boost. Temps peaked at 82C in prime95 with the case fans running at around 600rpm and the cpu fans at around 1200 (74 in Cinebench R23 with 500/1000). CSGO runs in the mid to high 50s with average 800fps (the +200MHz allclock oc got me an extra 40fps) on 1280*960 competitive settings with very low noise levels (400/700). While regular desktop usage the system is dead silent and runs in the low 30s (350/350). My suggestion is that you are running various background tasks that are stealing cpu performance (rgb software, logitech gaming / corsair icue hub etc.). I've benchmarked my PC after the initial build and os installation (including several benchmarks, mainboard manufacturer and other propriatery software etc) and again after I installed a fresh windows copy without any of the above mentioned programs and upped all cpu scores by around 200 points, so that is sth. to keep in mind.

Actually its kind of high... When stress testing you wanna aim to stay in the 80-90 max, 95c is very hot and can potentially damage components overtime... Trust me, I know from experience, I left my old 4790K unmonitored for too long and noticed I was gaming in the 90s very often. When I looked inside the PC, the backplate had turned blue and the system has been unstable for a bit now. Had to undervolt and disable Turbo Boost to keep my temps under control

96C is perfectly fine if that's what you were experiencing in Cinebench. It pulls an unrealistic amount of power. You will never get that hot in regular use. If you weren't throttling there's absolutely nothing to worry about. By the way Cinebench is not a stability test and should never be used as such lol. It's just a benchmark. Y-Cruncher, AIDA64, OCCT, and Prime95 are good stability tests to see if your overclock is actually stable. Cinebench is not a stability test lol.
@PabzRoz
@PabzRoz 2 жыл бұрын
@@fantaz_official Idk about the 4790K but hitting 90C+ during stress tests is perfectly fine. And those temperatures will not degrade your CPU are cause any problems. As long as your below tjmax you're completely fine. Alder Lake processors can handle that heat completely fine. Unless you're throttling 24/7 there's nothing to worry about. And even if you do throttle in certain stress tests or are in the 90C+ range during stability tests like Prime95, Y cruncher, or a benchmark like Cinebench that's perfectly fine because they pull an unrealistic amount of power. You will never see that high of power draw during gaming or normal use. Not even close. My 12700K OC'd to 5.3ghz is in the 90C range during Cinebench and throttle on 2 cores during Prime95 but when gaming It's in the 60C range and doing regular workloads it never passes 80C.

Went from ~140W power draw (cinebench r23 10min test) to ~115W (cinebench r23 10min test) using adaptive voltage (auto) with -100mV offset got the same score with 35W less power draw and way lower temps. Seems like the way to go for most people not using a decent AIO, you could probably tinker a bit with the core frecuencies and get even better efficiency/results. Also If you wanna test the most demanding workload for an Intel/Alder Lake CPU you should test with Prime95 small FFTs.

This is a customers pc but I'll mess around with it on mine. I did a 2 minute oc in ietu today on my 12700k and 18k plus. Should be able to get 18500 on it

I got 17800 with 1.25v with an - 150 offset. It shot my temps from 40c idle to 21c idle since it’s the ambient in my room. Really good if you want to try some stability with low temps. Cinebench never broke 72c on 30 min testing!

@@Hardwaretuned that’s awesome man!! What kind of temps were you getting? I only under clocked the cpu because my 360 AIO was still stabilizing at 42c idle which was ridiculous for an idle in my opinion. Thanks for the reply too brotha! This was a cool introduction to your channel

Greetings!! Nice video, I did the same to my i7 12700K, my other specs are: mobo asus rog strix z690 f gaming wifi, 32 gb ram ddr5 5200 mhz , rtx 3080 ti , aio cooler for cpu is Corsair ICUE H100i Elite CAPELLIX RGB 240mm, before in cinebench r23 I got 21794 with 68-72 cpu package temp, after I followed your instructions I got in cinebench 23850 with 75-78 cpu package temp and the cpu draws like 220w . I didn’t notice any problem and everything works great. After I run some test and everything seemed to be ok I tried a game…Spiderman remastered one…all settings maxed out and 1440 resolution, I notice some fps boost but not much, little… after a while the game crash and a window pop up saying to report the problem, but nothing said what caused the crash. Any thoughts? And what do you think about this results.

The score is pretty good but u can definitely get higher. I got mod 24k on mine. Keep in mind no two cpus are alike. If the game is crashing perhaps make sure you have all drivers installed. Some games aren’t rly dialed in as much as others. I’ve had customers that played 20 games with no issues and then play a new game and have issues because the game isn’t fully worked out yet.

@@Hardwaretuned Tanks for response, I will live it like that for now, I mostly play games and don’t think more OC will give me hell of fps… After all the gpu is more important for gaming. A question if you don’t mind, this tutorial of OC will reduce the lifetime of cpu?
