The Swisstrax was the first thing we started working on at this garage, and was the last thing we finished. It took essentially all of 8 days to do all the edges and cuts, but the finished result is just incredible. 5,000 sq.ft of Swisstrax flooring is complete. We show you how we set the leading edge for the garage, as well as some of the cuts around the lift and edge pieces for the roll-up doors. Stay tuned for the rest of the series for dedicated videos on each part and piece of the garage.

They did that Kerdi exactly right. It’s a waterproofing membrane to protect the wall. It definitely should have been painted black and left alone. I know it probably won’t get a ton of water but liability wise it should have been left.

I’ve done both residential and commercial building for 20 years, and here’s how I’d approach the base flashing removal situation. There’s absolutely a reason for it having been there. This is something that comes up on every new build on the exterior walls, of they are stucco. Usually we would paint over it. That tile contractor did the install correctly. Having said that, this is an interior wall, not an exterior one. It likely will see very little direct spray. And if that tile installer did their job correctly, the tile is either on moisture proof drywall, or cement backer board. So the risk of mold behind the tile is low. So all you’re talking about is the sill plate, which should be treated since it is in contact with the ground. Long story short, it’s a low risk move removing the flashing. Personally I would have chosen to mask the tile and paint it. Better end product overall. Removing it in this application won’t carry much risk, but it was overkill for the initial installation, so a judgement call was made. Not the one I would have made, but it’s not going to be the end of the world.

Impressive work but I'm not sure I would have cut the orange adhesive which is here to protect the wall of humidity in this kind of room. Here the water will go under the swiss track and on direct contact with the wall which will absorb it, you could have problems on the long term. It would have been better to paint it imo.

@Dominick wtf you talking about? Drywall will soak up water then you wind up with mold etc which is why that Kurdi (spelling?) was there to begin with in the wash bay. @Reaper-Jim
@Reaper-Jim 2 жыл бұрын
It’s okay if you’re not sold, each of us have to justify the purchases we make individually. However, the benefits have been explained numerous times and a little common sense goes a long way here. I don’t mean that offensively, I mean it as a matter of fact. Example, when debris falls on garage floors it just sits there. This is true for most other “flooring” for garages. SwissTrax, the debris falls below the flooring so you’re not stepping or tripping on it. That’s true for liquids as well. You don’t have to sweep or pressure wash them, just vacuum every couple months and you’re good.
