Man the Gear 5 in this episode is phenomenal. It highlights an important aspect of gear 5 I think fits very thematically with the series as a whole. In a world like the world of One Piece, Luffy embodies the world’s desire for change. Luffy is that chaotic neutral, that idea of, “I’m gonna pummel him into oblivion, and you can decide for yourselves how you feel about that.” Gear 5 is that chaotic change, but he’s necessary for the world. That being said Gear 5 is sooo good. Love the extreme creativity in the animation of it too. That scene where it’s just Gear 5 Luffy and the next frame is him just directly in front of Lucci… oh man that blew me away.

i love the transformation, it's one of the most unique transformations ever, it's like... luffy remembering the rhythm and jamming to it makes him transform, and the transformation itself is just base luffy changing hair, eye color and clothes going all white, + the ring around him, it's a simple yet effective transformation design

It's called Gomu Gomu no mi because when the government covered up the void century they changed the name of the (Hito Hito no mi: modle nika) to the (Gomu gomu no mi) (because Nika body has the properties of rubber) and when luffy ate it Shanks told him it was the Gomu Gomu no mi so trusting Shanks ofc Luffy thinks he's a rubber man.

Another One of the good things in the anime that they added Luffy's transitioning from gear 1 or base luffy to gear 5th transformation in this episode of Yonko Vs CP0, you could see the vast difference of their power more clearly

My interpretation of Vegapunk's theory is that devil fruits are human inventions that tap into the various potential ways humans could have evolved. What he means by tapping into alternate realities is that devil fruit represent things humans could have been. I do not think that someone simply wanted a power and that power popped into existence.

This episode did a great job of reinforcing the fact that seeing Gear 5 in person would be *terrifying*! Luffy, at this point, is more akin to an Eldritch Horror than a person. Think about it, the dude exudes lightning made of Conquerors Haki, and when he starts laughing, the world turns into his personal bouncy castle.

It was called the Gomu-Gomu no Mi because the gorosei wanted to hide the actual name in history. Remember, Vegapunk says, "There is no such fruit in the OLD [key word] df encyclopedia." He is most likely talking about the ones that are centuries old. The current encyclopedias over the last 100-200 probably have ghr gomu gomu no mi because even the Gorosei know that name. And shanks knew the name

Here is a theory: when Roger made it to Laugh Tale, the treasure was the GUM-GUM Fruit. Since, Shanks was on his crew, that would be how Shanks obtained it. Then made it to the East Blue, and that's how Luffy ended up with the Devil Fruit???? So, when Luffy makes it to LaughTale, that would be where he finds his weapons, and uses them against the Gorosei or Emu!!!
