This guy's knowledge of bio- mechanics, thoroughness to detail, eye for nuances and teaching skills are amazing and he is right: shoes designed for stability (such as the Brooks, New Balance, Apopos, Hoka models, etc, which address arch, pronation, supination issues) redirect the gait to create less pressure on joint angles, especially already deformed, inflexible and weaker ones...

I went through the New Balance and Saucony shoes and still literally limping around until I got Gravity Defyer Mighty Walk shoes. I will never be without them again. It stopped my pain within 15 minutes of putting them on. A lifesaver for me.

What feet type are you?
@jdelacour
@jdelacour Жыл бұрын
@@mrnobodyjo um, my feet aren't my major problem. I have SI joint dysfunction, spinal stenosis and muscle damage in my hip. I wear custom orthotics to keep my left leg from swinging inwards as I walk. Foot pain was just from shoes manufactured to be gimmicky instead of just offering a proper amount of cushioning and a proper protection of foot as it moves thru the strike path of walking. Hope that helps.

Watching now, but my issue with almost all of the ones mentioned. Toe box.... They are all soooooo narrow. It's more than the arch. I had to go Altra, and Asic. The Asics don't look wide but they opened up in the right places. (My ankle mobility needs work still)

I’m a Xero shoes user, and definitely a proponent of this type of footwear. When I first started wearing this style, it took a good 6 months, but my arches realigned, strengthened, and lifted, and my feet and calves got a lot stronger. I won’t go back, without a doubt.

There are times when I cannot walk outside barefoot anymore. The concrete can be especially painful on the bursar sacs of my feet. I prefer to train barefoot and still believe it's important to connect with that. But if you're running you need to protect joints and use anything you can for shock absorption.
@chronia13
@chronia13 11 ай бұрын
@@KineticSenseTherapies this is true, which is why barefoot running requires an adjustment of gate. You more or less have to get used to using your tibia as a shock absorber and your hammies to push off. There are a few barefoot running vids that do it better justice, but this saves the need to wear trampolines under your feet to counteract concrete

I’d honestly like to know Conor’s opinion on weightlifting shoes. I don’t think they are a necessity, but why not look for a shoe that provides a solid base when performing certain lifts? A shoe that doesn’t allow for any type of give or rocking, like a running shoe would? Additionally, how well do these shoes work for someone with poor ankle mobility? What if they need to elevate their heels? Would it be possible to pair a great everyday shoe with a solid lifting shoe?

Because what you’re saying is not necessarily true if barefoot shoes Were the ultimate answer ,Then, why not just go barefoot? Well, for one reason different people have different needs because of their posture, etc. etc. plus I would assume that primitive man started making footwear for a practical reason , I personally love barefoot shoes, but sparingly the posture experts can explain it better than myself

If your foot biomechanics are a mess or you lack femur or tibia IR etc unfortunately barefoot shoes are not going to magically resolve that. As he mentions in the video people must continue to work on these issues. If you had flat feet, simply sticking on barefoot shoes could make things worse. When it comes to shoes its not a case of one size fits all (pun very much intended). For the average person the shoes mentioned in the video are probably a safer bet until they get their house in order.

Walked and ran for 67 years with flat feet. Last 15 years, chronic back, hip pain. Went to a podiatrist who gave me custom orthotics to correct my flat feet. After 6 months started getting lateral knee pain right side. After 12 months of lateral knee pain, removed the orthotics. During those 12 months of orthotics use, I lost the downward movement of my big toe on the painful leg side. Podiatrist told me you don't need the big toe to be able to do that. Let's just wait and see if you get that movement back. First I threw out the orthotics, then I threw out the podiatrist. Here's my question: Do I need to correct my flat feet or is it just too late in life to make structural changes? Still have a raging lateral knee pain that the ortho doctor attributes to IT Band weakness.

Lateral knee pain from orthodontics is probably because the shoes place you in an exaggerated supinated position. Yes, you can address flat feet because there are muscles in your feet. The exercises are not fun though. For example, my sports medicine therapist gave me one where I invert both my ankles and point my toes to each other. You'll feel the arches cramping up. I'd recommend you visit a sports medicine clinic.

Don't but it if you plan to walk on hard, flat surfaces. It will bring you more pain, and won't help you at all. For me, wearing Vivobarefoot, causet left hip pain and constant pain in the right neck area. Use the shoes which he indicated in the video. NB 860 works great for me, Since I wear them, pain has gone and I can finally rotate each direction.

I can appreciate not wanting to be restrictive in your recommendations but wearing a high heel shoe is going to force the wearer to compensate to get the center of mass in an efficient place. Nothing in my opinion corrupts a woman’s strength more than high heeled shoes. With so much pelvic floor issue, it’s important to get the word out.
