Where we live, they grow alfalfa but I was told the best hay was a grass mix done by a particular rancher. Unfortunately, it was becoming hard to get as the State buys up the best hay for wild horses kept in captivity. We've just had more snow, was wistfully looking at grass and trees greening in your area.

People who say grass hay is better than alfala are tryng to justify buying cheap hay.

Timothy: low Protein, low calorie. Orchardgrass: high Fiber, also higher nutrient{ than Timothy} with a higher protein content and higher calorie. Oat Hay: stock feed Triticale : hybrid rye and wheat Alfalfa: High Protein, high energy

Nice video! Do you feed like that twice a day?
@BarrettHouser2 жыл бұрын
That video is a while old. I feed a large scoop of Purina senior. A flake of coastal and a flake of alfalfa 2x per day.

@donniegray57353 жыл бұрын
Just curious... do you normally just buy 6 or 8 bales at a time? Or do you ever buy enuf to last several months or all year?
@BarrettHouser3 жыл бұрын
Just 6 or 8

@@BarrettHouser I gotcha... I guess your local feed stores keep it in stock year round? I live in East TN... around here it seems to be a seasonal thing. We try to store up as much hay as we need in the spring and summer bc come winter time it's very hard to find...or if it's available it's gonna be very expensive in the winter. Thanks for taking a minute with me. When you hit the "You Tube big time" like Reed Flake you won't have time to respond to us little small timers. Lol. I'm kidding. Always enjoy your videos.

Haha I appreciate it. Yes they keep us in stock year round and we don’t have that much space to keep hay for long periods.

Nah, storage is key, I buy 2 squeezes at a time. Several times a year. Those that don't know a squeeze is 64 bales, our bales here in AZ average 125 lbs

For sure. Az always has good hay

You say "this is the best hay" but you don't tell us what kind of hay it is. Unless I missed something.
