Also the packing, how should we pack for a trip full of treks to such places ; as we won't have any place to keep our luggage when we're going to these interior vilage/spots.. The inspiration for Rivendell was actually Lauterbrunnen, a valley in Switzerland, Tolkien (the author) passed through the valley when he hiked through Switzerland as a young man. That journey in general was his inspiration to write "The Hobbit", he wrote: “From Rivendell to the other side of the Misty Mountains, the journey... including the glissade down the slithering stones into the pine woods... is based on my adventures in Switzerland in 1911.”
