Nice look. I too have a small space. What I found is the acrylic nail polish racks thats seen in the nail polish shops, The best part is that they are meant to hang on the wall leaving desk space free. Four racks hold all my Vallejo paints and Citadel washes + extras. Got 'em on ebay.

When I was a wee un I did a lot of computer graphics and I had to make do with 16 colours. Being forced to use a limited range can enforce a specific style to your work. If you're reading this comment and you have a severe space/money problem, buy more black and white and then practice how to mix colours. When I first started painting miniatures I just bought a mid range colour and mixed up the dark and light colours required.

I am moving right now, so I'm staying in a temporary room. I can confirm you're 100% right. We don't need all the clutter we (impulse) buy. I actually have a video coming on how you can hobby with just the bare minimum! Thanks for sharing your experience

I love my Hobby Zone set. One tip for assembly, be very gentle with magnets. They tend to shutter when you hit them with metal hammer to fit them in holes. If you can use plastic/rubber hammer or just use something to protect magnets.

Late to the party, but I just bought a few modules for my own studio. It is suprisingly inexpensive for what you get for it. Really impressed! Will be super fun once I move to a new flat and dedicate a whole room for hobby *__* Ty for the recommendation mate and best greetings from germany!

I buyed some modular pieces from hobbyzone one year ago, they are still doing well and i love them, I had to buy some other pieces but for now I don’t have a big desk, probably I will add the paper piece, the one for brushes(maybe the one to store them horizontally), the magnetic manual holder and of course a couple of pieces for the paints

Awesome vid, good to demonstrate you can hobby regardless of space; you just have to be selective. As a student all my hobby stuff fits in a shoe box! Admittedly a walking boot shoe box so its a chunky thing, but got all I need! 30 odd paints, vallejo brush-on primer, some unpainted minis, brushes, milliput, sculpting tools, glue, take away box wet palette, brush cleaner, clippers and hobby knife.

I know the feels of a small work space. My room is 8ftx14ft and one might think "Oh thats plenty" and it is until you cram 8 3d printers, a 6x6 corner desk, a book shelf, and other stuff in. Plus I got my own restroom! The fact you're in the loft area is even more challenging as cabinets and hanging shelves can't be utilized.

I used to have a set, great quality, but after the move my hobby space shrank, so now I have 2 fold down tables, 2 essential oil carry cases, 2 portable stack box sets and a canvas bag, to fit all my paints and tools.

I like the foundry system for all my core colours as they come in 3 different shades already. I use citadel inks, glazes, washes. A few Vallejo for historically accurate colours for when I do historicals. It is scary how quickly paint pots take over your space though!

I'm lucky to have a fairly decent space (theoretically I share it with the wife but she has been in to paint 3 times in 7 years) but it's always good to see others options for layouts and storage. Good luck with the moves and I guess will be nice to get personal hobby space again as opposed to having to share it all with us ;)

That looks great! If I didn't own the Citadel paint collection box I would probably get some really nice organizers like those. Because they are wood it would even be possible to paint them to match a certain coloured desk or room decor. Downsizing is always difficult, and pretty soon I'll have to start sorting out what terrain pieces I want to keep and which ones to get rid of.
@MentatOfDune4 жыл бұрын
Have a similar space with 2 computers and 4 monitors (worked from home). Now downsizing to 1 PC with 2 monitors and will paint on this desk. What I'm more curious about is how you'll light the painting area? Do you use 1, 2 etc LED's? Obviously a center ceiling light will cast a bad shadow on a corner desk when painting. Just found the channel and am liking the vids so far. Have a good few to go through still :)

Reminds me of my spare bedroom which has clutter from ceiling to floor all dedicated to modelling plus I've a bed in it . As for paint stoarage yeah I went OTT and bought carry cases from Vallejo, except in them are everyone's paint selections - bar GW's which are in under table storage racks but to be honest I've got far too much and I've just bought and airbrush compressor so you can see where this vlog is heading - like you I need a bigger space!! Cheers matey!!

Try out Kimera Kolors for 60 quid. They are very high pigment and you can mix any color you want from them.
@peterdickinson45995 жыл бұрын
BarringtonDailey They are gorgeous paints. Also, because they are single pigments, the mixes are much more predictable. However, there is no equivalent of Payne’s grey, or any umbers or siennas included in the range, which I think is a major drawback and has stopped me purchasing them (though my mate did and he loves them). My opinion, if you want to pursue that more traditional style of painting, Scale75 has probably done a better job with their Artists range of miniature paints. They are more expensive than the Kimera, but long term, probably more functional.

Great vid Luke, our spare room is about that size. It was going to be a gaming room, but my wife's now claimed it for a exercise room/office 😭. So I have a little tower thing to store stuff & paints on top. I will just have to take the paints I need & my wet pallet into the living room. Quick question do you use a hobby light & if so what kind is best?

Sadly he was not able to decide on what to throw away from his hobby space to be. Legend has it that to this day you can walk in on him still struggling to fit all his hobby gear into one tiny space. That aside kill the table. Or measure the shed and the tiny room and take over which ever is larger. You only need one screen choose one and hide the other in the dungeon.

Can you do a winter gaming table?
@Sirdeathvids5 жыл бұрын
Having some kind of ancient wall made out of rocks with an arch of sharpened sticks would also look very cool, and a mammoth skeleton too. I had made a winter board out of eight 2x2 ft. chunks of osb chipboard with dirt glued to the top. Then a light coating of white spraypaint was placed up top. It was super basic, but it did serve its purpose for the few 40k games that I have played.

Looked at the prices, Canadians beware. I thought it was bad having CAN$2.00 equal to UK£1.00. CAN$3.00 = PLN zł1.00 If one paint hanger costs zł 59.00, it would be CAN$177.00 Also, it seems you can’t place an order online to North America (possibly other places) that weighs less than 10kg (22lbs) without contacting them directly. Assuming it doesn’t cost extra for packages weighing less than 10kg, I’ve still seen vehicles for cheaper than one paint hanger.
