A good frugal tip I've learned is to save the first soak water, and, put it in your garden or on fruit trees. The "soaked bean water" (or even water from boiling potatoes or pasta) contains nutrients good for your plants and soil. Blessings!

Thanks to this channel, I ordered a canner and canned my first batch of pinto beans yesterday. I realize watching this I probably put too many beans in each jar. Most sealed. If you are using dried beans, it's very deceiving. A scant 1/2 cup in a pint jar looks like nothing and a waste of space, but I found out that they swelled up to fill the jar.

I have been watching your channel for years now. I’m not really big on leaving comments however I wanted to let you know just how much you INSPIRED me a long with some of the other seasoned (QUEEN CANNERS). I have only been canning about 6 months now. And I love ❤️ UGLY CHICKEN 🐔 😁. I also wanted to thank you for being the guinea pig (lol) for us all by trying out the new FORJARS LIDS. And given us your full honest opinion not just on the product but the company as well. So because of you I went ahead and bought 300 Regular Mouth lids and 300 Wide Mouth Lids, that’s just to start so that I can try them for myself. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for all you do. I truly believe your a good person. Be Bless, Mrs Wallace 😊

Thank you so much. I have wanted to can beans lately and wasn't totally sure what to do and this answered all of my questions. I have had a long day today making beef jerky and canning beef cubes. My pressure cooker is steaming away right now. I can't believe how many people think I'm crazy. They think I have a food fetish. In reality I am just following the Lord's instructions about being prepared for Hard Times. Because I'm widowed with no children people think I'm nuts.. Guess who's going to bang on my door when they can't afford or find food.

The rings are made of tin. Tin expands in heat more than glass does. Hence, loose rings out of a hot canner. After cooling, they "magically" tighten back up significantly.

Good collector of ‘opps’ spills, drippings, and etc. Wow the beans doubled after soaking! 3 cups into 6 cups. How many cups of only beans before you canned? The British, for some reason, pronounce it something like "wurster sauce". Makes you wonder just what the alphabet is for. I don't mind if there is extra sauce in the beans. During the winter I usually add a jar to soups or casseroles, so it just fits in. We rarely eat beans alone as a side dish. All the same, I also rarely wear white when eating anything with tomatoes.

I went by the USDA Home Canning Book and did exactly what they said with soaking the beans 12-18 hours and then boiling them for 30 min. before canning. After they had sat the amount of time to make sure they had sealed, there was not any liquid left in my jars. All but I sealed, but I am new to all of this and don't want to make my family sick. Are these beans ok or do I need to throw away and start over.?.....THANKS

Since it is cooking long enough for a meat recipe, could you add some bacon in the jars? Looks very tasty, I will be trying these for sure!

I have an electric Nuwave canner. I believe 13qt. I was gonna try this with this canner. What do you think?

Leisa does not promote or encourage the use of electric canners. Check out her videos on this topic.

Hi Leisa. In this video you are canning Pinto Baked Beans and you said to can the pints for 75 minutes. In the previous video you canned Navy Baked Beans and you said to can the pints for 65 minutes. As far as I know Navy and Pinto beans are the same with regard to canning, so which is the correct time; 65 minutes or 75 minutes? Thanks
