@@TheDeepsilver Well it wasn't lol. If you listened to his content he said that he's a running a enthusiast channel (despite making recommendations for the average user) and his numbers are the tweaked numbers. His objective is to show you how to tweak your 12900k to be within spitting distance of a 13900k in gaming. Modern processors are sold with the highest factory clock they can get stable on 100% of products. A few of them might be able to OC higher, but they are also highly binned at the top end so you get very little difference. I.E he was only able to OC the 13900k by 100 Mhz with a pretty sizable voltage and power draw bump, which made it not worth it for anyone not chasing benchmark results.

Also make sure you not only update the bios on the Z690 to run the 13th gen (which you have obviously) but also the chipset driver updates specially for all Z690 boards when you are running 13th gen chips. Apparently this helps with performance of 13th gen chips on Z690 boards as there were some performance issues. Because the Z690i Unify is a 12 layer board so in theory you should be able to hit 8000 on it as well with that memory kit. Your comparison between Hynix M die and Hynix A die will be interesting because according to Buildzoids testing the A die runs faster but the M die can run tighter timings over A die.

memory speeds are so unpredictable when it comes to gaming. One would expect 5200 ddr5 and 8k ddr5 to have quite a difference but it doesnt seem to be the case. Maybe the extra cache in the processors is making the ram speeds less and less relevant. But then again ddr4 didn't seem to have any noteworthy gains either from lets say 2666 to 4k + ram speeds if I remember correctly. But ddr 4 had/has better latency timings so maybe thats why it didnt really matter that much. I wonder if ddr5 improves in terms of latency if its gonna help at all or it just wont be relevant again bcz of the increased processor cache (which will basically be masking any improvements, so a program/game/app that heavily utilizes ram would help by overpowering the processor cache and showing the gains?)
@impuls60 Жыл бұрын
I found that the shooting feel and hit reg improves with low latency. Disabling the e-cores will give you 5ns faster ram latency in benchmarking. Classical thinking says you wont notice that, but when you also oc the cache to 5Ghz the time to kill and enemy feels way more consistent. Something else is also going on since the game hitreg also becomes much better than just gjudging by ping latency. It also effects the game network time which info is held in the network card's sending buffer. I'm an engineer so I know this is subjective, but on the other hand noone has a test rig to challenge my claim. To test this you need 2 pc's and a server. One pc with ecores on and one off with 5Ghz cache, rest of the system identical. Then a reliable way to trigger both pc mouses excactly at the same time. My claim is that the oc pc kills the other non oc player every time because of the added latency. Good luck proving this difference in practice. But even if I cant prove it doesnt make it not true by default. With exerimenting with cache speed, fclk speed, core speed and network speed settings, the only thing that really made the ttk consistent, no desync feel was disabling ecores and oc the cache. Nothing else helped on the 12700k. Ping was sub 25ms in all testing and fps was also above 70 in 0.1% lows. I tested Pubg and SP for weeks and high cache speed is the magic ticket on 12.th gen and Asus mb.

in terms of voltages across multiple platforms (inc z690/AM5), its a safe bet. Most boards can hit 6000 unless you have a poor IMC with first gen Samsung Dies on Z690.. Then its RNG for some lower end boards/CPUs... 6400+ can be a little finicky on 6 layer 2DPC boards on Intel z690. You need closer to 1.4 TX/1.4 VDD2 to get Hynix running on MSI while 6000 will auto in the 1.3TX/VDD2 range.. MSI boards for example will AUTO 1.35/1.4TX on z690 with an average IMC for the 6400 MT/S spec on hynix m/a die.

@@donuthole7236 Depends on the board, ITX boards tend to have more 2 DIMM ram configurations so you have optimal signal strength between CPU and memory. You also may not get 3+ m.2 slots or as many usb ports/headers. Performance wise, power delivery and all; the ideal is possible on mini ITX. I don't have proof, but Z690 prob has a weaker DMI link that crashes ram at higher speeds, especially with tons of i/o. Boards like the Z690 and Z790 HERO are identical trade design, but perform different for ram OC... Z790 can go further. Another example: Z690 Tomahawk and Z790 PRO-A more or less share a base bios Same board/EE design, but different chipset... The Z790 PRO-A goes further. Official QVL spec is 6800 (Z690) vs 7200 (Z790) on 2DPC (400mhz) .. Which is similar to the limitation here with Unify I vs Edge I (1DPC) (200mhz)
