What are the best jobs in Hawaii? Doctor? Lawyer? Construction? Typically, the best jobs in Hawaii pay the highest or have really good benefits. I looked at the "Top 20 Occupations in Hawaii" report from September 2018, asked local people their opinion, and provided my own suggestions for the best jobs in Hawaii.
"Top 20 Occupations in Hawaii" report from the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism published in September 2018: files.hawaii.go....

I am an Electrical Contractor here in Hawaii- I've spent 42 years mastering my trade- I handle many High-Rise building electrical "issues" here in Honolulu as well as island-wide- my phone NEVER stops ringing for customers needing troubleshoots, ceiling fans, main breaker replacements countless G.F.I. outlets pooping out- SO MUCH WORK so little time to give all my customers the quality service they need and the perfection that I am renowned for-I ALWAYS make 6 figures a year- Aloha

I'm glad the video was helpful. The government releases a report about the job market each year. It helps to show what industries are on the rise and decline. I suspect construction may see a small increase, but we'll have to see if the government pushes for more infrastructure projects.

I've seen quite a few jobs for Instructional Designers, but the pay range from one to the next fluctuates significantly. I'm not sure what would be the norm in Hawaii. Thanks for the comment. Hawaii does have a physician shortage, particularly in the rural areas. And because we have a growing elderly population, it will continue to be a challenge in the future. I'm a doctor (clinical/forensic psychologist), and I applied for a position at the state hospital in the forensic services division. May I ask how locals perceive psychologists, particularly those who are not from Hawaii and familiar with the culture?
@HelloFromHawaii
@HelloFromHawaii 4 жыл бұрын
The State definitely needs more professionals in the health/mental health field. I can't speak for all locals, but it can be a challenge to get adjusted to the culture. Obviously it helps to know the culture, but as more and more people from outside of Hawaii move here, being "local" may be less of a factor. I think it just comes down to respecting the local ways of life and not necessarily trying to change things ("Things aren't like this on the Mainland"). Most people in Hawaii are friendly and accepting.
@g0ne_dark
@g0ne_dark 4 жыл бұрын
@@HelloFromHawaii Thank you so much for responding, I really appreciate it. It's interesting, and a bit sad, that you say being "local" may be less of a factor due to outsiders moving to Hawaii. With the influx of mainlanders moving in, would you say that an equal number of locals are being forced to move out or that the locals are simply being outnumbered? Respecting other cultures is extremely important to me, and experiencing a new culture is part of what attracts me to Hawaii. I would hate to see the local culture disappear in front of my eyes.

@@perrysouvana1137 I agree with Perry. I just returned from a 2 week trip to Hawaii... almost all the hotels and resorts are closed and will remain so until the governor decides Hawaii is in the right COVID phase to allow for opening. Meanwhile, Hawaii has a homeless problem and they are in just about every town (at least on Oahu) as far as the eye can see. They even build encampments on the sidewalk or along the beach. People go to Hawaii with money saved and didnt realize how expensive it is, or how they need to work more than one job to survive since the income doesnt usually match the cost of living-- and end up having to move back to where they came, or end up on the streets. Typical, Democrat run state....run right into the ground. The will give you a ticket for not wearing a mask, meanwhile, they have locked it down so tight they cut the life line of the islands and some businesses have closed for good. Other states send their homeless to Hawaii and the government doesnt seem to know how to say no to them. Truly is a shame. The beauty and paradise of the island--comes with THOUSANDS of homeless. And the best part of all-- you're expected to pay for a high cost of living with high state income tax, high grocery prices, high utility prices and high gas prices-- all while you walk outside your 900 thousand dollar home to be greeted by homeless. If you're planning a move there, please make sure to visit first.

Military veterans get first crack at getting into any of the trades apprentice programs at Pearl Harbor...you might be the oldest, but they as mentioned you have first crack at getting in if you want it....The only down part is you will have to be around a lot of 20 year old's who don't know shit about anything, but are in the trade cause their daddy worked there. My uncle did it...got out of the Navy then worked as a machinist for 10 years and retired a supervisor from Pearl Harbor.

@HelloFromHawaii
@HelloFromHawaii 4 жыл бұрын
I think there are a lot of nursing jobs in Hawaii, especially in long-term care. However, I'm not sure about salary versus the rest of the US. My guess is that the salaries are lower than what you'd expect, but that salary difference is seen throughout most industries.

Oof it's tough here with strict bi-partisan laws for business it chases innovative upstatrt business from coming here that and land laws and TAX what that does it stagnates the islands ecosystem in terms of GDP The only thing that is keeping Hawaii a U.S State is the Military the island generates GDP to barely sustain itself,it has more fund cuts then a meat butcher you would have to work 2 professional jobs at Max to survive especially if are you are starting fresh from College the cheapest rent you probably find that's decent is 1600 a month utilities not included water 80 electric about 70 Association fees 800 if you are lucky lol then if you have car 400 hundred a month insurance 100 gas 60 a week food 360 a month internet 40 phone 50 that's about 3000+ 4000 is rough estimate without taxes, a month ..That's all about getting 2X fullime jobs with college degree but you will be place d entry level anyway so 2 20000 a year jobs..smh I hope you are introverted...And to sum up Hawaii politics Democratic so common wealth rules here it's like miniature LA crammed with 1 million + people and the traffic takes me 30 min drive to work 3 hours so you have to get up 2-3 hours before the rush and going home is worse you have to stay additional 2 hours in town for traffic to subside unless you like driving through all that..then go home rinse repeat 6-7 days a week till you get a raise after half a decade then you can start socialising if you are still sane..Lol

Be careful coming to Hawaiʻi as a United States lawyer or judge especially... Hawaiʻi is an illegally occupied country, and you will be breaching international laws if you choose to work here, exerting US domestic laws outside of proper US jurisdiction. What that may entail when the LHG and regency goes to the UN wonʻt look good for you and/or your livelihood. Youʻve been warned.
