I had the original bazooka handmade by Ben and just got the new one and I absolutely love it, but yeah that thing with the screws on the collar got me too! That thing looks absolutely absolutely amazing, but I feel like there really should be an easy way to change the shifter length. Maybe something like a heim joint at the most complicated? Or really just include 2 or 3 different sizes of shorter threaded sections to go between the base and shift nob- that way it would be possible to mix and match/ add and subtract for the desired height/ throw, and it would just be some extra pieces of cheap metal tube... I know it probably sounds nitpicky but it's so close to being perfect, and the premium price, makes it suck that much more to see something missing that could easily be there (like that nylock nut). Still, I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I had a rig worthy enough to put it on.
@KarlGosling5 ай бұрын
Interchangeable shafts shouldn't be too hard to implement in future iterations maybe.

Absolutely great vid Karl! Honest question...which shifter, in your opinion, has the better, more authentic feeling for H-Pattern shifting between this one and the Pro--Sim Quaife? And if you had a Quaife would you sell it to get this one?
@strattwanger5 ай бұрын
I owned a ProSim until I bought the first BDH H1 "Bazooka." There's a lot of difference in the feel of both. I Ultimately chose to sell the ProSim as the BDH felt more authentic for the cars I like to race, for example, Lotus 49, Ford Escort. The ProSim is an excellent shifter, l it felt more like a big luxury car, BMW 7 series with Manual transmission than the rawness of a race car, which the Bazooka did. It's not a decision I regret. The BDH just suited my needs better. At the end of the day, it is subjective. Some prefer one or the other, although having said that, I do know there's a number of people who have swapped over like I did. Of course there is also the price tag. The BDH is still a big saving over the ProSim, and now offers more bang for buck with the new dual mode H1-SQ. Recently, I used one of these new H1-SQ shifters on a friend's rig, I put my order in the next morning and can't wait to receive it.

@@strattwanger Thanks so much for your reply. I don't know if it's me just being crazy, but it seems, based on what I see and hear in the video, that the BDH has a bit more "clank" in its feeling when engaging in the gears. Whereas with the Quaife, at least on mine, has this sort of "sloshy" type feel. I would prefer something with a bit more "thunk" or "clank" when engaging the gears. Am I correct in this assumption? The other thing is, while yes you can tighten up the gears in the Quaife and adjust the tension, the problem is when you do so, gears 5 and 6 become much MUCH stiffer than the other 4 gears, to the point where I can't even engage the shaft into position. Did you have this same issue strattwanger?
@strattwanger5 ай бұрын
@@isamuu99 Yes I did !! though Id forgotten, the BDH is far better as all the gears are equally adjusted with the tensioner. The Sloshy feel is a good way to describe the ProSim feel. Again, the BDH is definitely a more positive engagement with a very satisfying Clunk on engagement. Another thing worth noting is the customer support with BDH really is second to none.
@isamuu995 ай бұрын
@@strattwanger Thanks so much for your reply mate! WOW and here I thought it was only me. Your confirmation on this issue has made me rethink whether or not I want to trade my Quaife for the BDH. I'm giving it some serious thought now.

I mean, the knob itself isn't as important(unless you're fiddling with it enough that any issues will compound) but you do want it to be at least a certain quality. don't want it to be jumping around all over the place on it's return when you're just gently rotating. but you don't need german engineered, lubricated by ancient elephant oil or anything stupid like that. just a non-shit potentiometer, and a knob you can actually grip. Looking at this, are you sure it's not over-engineered just a bit? This thing is $1,250 before shipping... A sim setup that includes this is going to be more expensive than an actual car...
@KarlGosling5 ай бұрын

@@KarlGosling To make sure I don't misspeak(type?), and to be clear, I'm not really saying that this is a bad product. I'm also fairly certain by a quick glance that between the materials, labor, and R/D that went into making it, that price tag might be fully justified. The question is whether anyone who's dad isn't an oil barron or a youtuber/influencer that will be given/loaned it will actually get their money's worth out of it. Imagine a dining room chair. You can get a dining chair with a padded seat for $60 off ikea(can likely find cheaper, but I'm attempting to avoid bias). Or, you can get a Low Back Cherry Cherry Chairs: Modern Farmhouse chair for $360 that lacks the padding(each, tho they say you can get a discount for buying multiples). Yes, one is made in a factory, the other is hand made. That's why one has a more expensive cost/price tag. The issue here is with value received. Out of the two, my ass is going for the one with padding that's 1/6th the price. There's a difference between being anal retentive enough to ensure that your rma department has nothing to do, and overshooting so far that your product is laughably expensive.
