Even though he’s seen as a grappler, a big part of Aljo’s style is forward pressure and volume striking his kicks. He’s not finishing people with them but he controls a fight to get to where he wants it to with kicks. And even in rounds where he didn’t grapple, he was able to win striking rounds against Yan and O’Malley based on his kicks. The Munhoz and Cejudo fights showed off his kicking game the best. A solid B tier imo, similar reasons as Volk

If this guy was slightly smaller, so he could develop his Muay Thai to an elite 5'5" to 5'11" guy's level, fighting in Asia where Muay Thai is king, he could have become an extraordinary kicker, due to his next level shins! In MMA, with MMA rules, which include wrestling and BJJ, Jan doesn't get to display basic shin clashing kicks on an endless approach (because those whose legs he checks would either clinch up or try to wrestle), but, again, if it's a pure kicking match, I would prefer a prime, 30 year-old Jan over Izzy, Alex, and all other good kickers.... when it comes to just the kicking aspect of a fight... Jan's shins reminded me of some lefty Muay Thai kicker years ago who, regardless what his opponent would do, would just keep kicking them with his left leg every other second until the opponent collapse from defending, with both their arms and legs... because he seemed to have better/tough shins than most guys and, so, even if they block or "check" his kicks, he would just never stop... until THEY stopped checking or until they went down or quit...

adesanyas body kicks are some of the best in mma, and his calf kicks are very good even though he doesn’t finish people with them. cuz guess what? neither does pereira. he also has a great teep to the body and while not as much anymore his knees and spinning attacks used to be highlights of his game
