Adam - Also, when you look at prints, the first two at least, when you click into details the description is of something different.

You can do the same with the f/4 version of the 24-70 or even the 24-105. You don’t need f/2.8 for landscapes.

Do u think the new tamron 24-70mm 2.8 g2 is better than this canon L lens? Thought of getting one but seems like canon is focusing more on rf lens..i hope ef lens last longer than expected.

Nothing in the video tells why I should use this lens over a prime. It is just a general description of medium zoom. Also ‘stitching together a panorama’ is not the same as using a wide angle. The main use when composing with a wide angle in landscape is too create separation between foreground and back ground, hopefully to squeeze in an interesting mid-ground, this is not the effect you get with a 24mm panorama.

Like I said in the video, changing lenses on location isn't realistic a lot of the time so having the zoom makes getting the shot more realistic. The quality is just as good on the L series line so it's more practical without a comprimise. With practice you can make the panaramas look the same, you just need to work on the technique. You get the same depth of field as you would from the single photograph.

Adam Kappa I used to shoot canon L glass so I known that zooms are not as good as primes, certainly the new Fuji primes I use now are in every aspect except perhaps center sharpness better than the zooms. Even you prefer the canon 135mm vrs the 70-200 zoom. As a wedding photographer one of the reasons you use a 135mm vrs say a 50mm for portraits is because of the compression. In landscape using a 14mm vrs 24mm is for the reverse effect making backgrounds smaller and further away, it is nothing to do with depth of field. I do shoot panoramas often with a 50mm when I want the relationship between foreground and background to be similar to the way our eyes see it and use a wide angle when I want the foreground to dominate with less emphasis on the background.

Perhaps you should be less patronising in your answers, remember, many of us, although not professional, have been shooting for 30+ years. To suggest that I lack the skill to make a panorama look like a true wide angle is just insulting and just shows an ignorance about the qualities a wide angle possesses.

I think you’ve read my reply in the wrong tone... 135vs70-200 I’d prefer the 70-200 or 100-400. Price meant the 70-200 was out of the question at the time. I got the 135 for it’s low light capabilities in churches. Wide angle - I rarely ever need anything wider, so it’s not worth the investment to me hence the workaround. I said nothing about your skill level. I just said it’s possible with practice. Just like everything else.
