I think the early scan could be to complete the challenge of scanning people with lion, alibi, cav. They do it because it can be an easy way to complete the challenge since the defenders don't usually care when it is that early in the round.

Pretty sure they use it at the start of the round to potentially catch spawn killers or spawn run outs. I don’t think its worth it but pretty sure thats why.

Could also be a lazy way of knowing where sites are without droning if you don’t already know by end of prep phase - or at least what floor defenders are on

Its if you know someone is spawnpeeking to lock them in place so you can potentially get the kill but 9/10 times its not worth it because the spawnpeeker will either just stay there and get you or you get them or just run and get pinged

Me as a lion player since day one I would only waste the first scan to spot players if the team can’t locate bomb or hazard

using the scan early can tell you what operators they enemies are using so if you're in a situation where your team didn't find many defenders then scanning early can have benefits

One reason I've done it just s because we didn't find the hostage or bomb and there location can sometimes give you a good idea where the bomb or hostage may be

Not a great reason, but I've tried it a few times with success, of course it's situational, but when objective room has not been located sometimes I've gotten lucky finding bomb site or secure area with early scan to find defenders in objective room moving around setting up their gadgets

The amount of time lions on enemy team attempt a scan straight away, usually at that point I'm still setting something up so in that 3 seconds I'm putting up a reinforcement 😆 it's just as easy to find out who's on the other team by droning or just using your eyes and coms with your team... no ID but you see a castle barricade from outside is an example.

Sometimes the early scan just for amaru rush, when enemy can’t move so amaru player can aim easier when they rush into the building

I asked someone in a lobby why they called it at the start of the round, they told me because its incase they aren't done setting up or haven't gotten into position, it makes them stop what they are doing. I don't think its worth it, but thats the reason they gave.

I never understood why people scanned at the start of a round. It makes no sense and has no use. Especially in casual where lets be honest, using a scan for a slight chance the person that hasn't been scanned moves so you can see who it is won't make the difference.

Using Lion ability in the start can counter spawn peaks by forcing them to run away if you can out gun them :)

Activating in first 10seconds is to ping roamers cuz in most cases they won't be prepared/hiding yet

But then what can be done with the info? Everybody is still outside the map. By the time you get inside the building the information is 25 seconds old.

@@alyttleton its simply the information we get at that point what matters, incase if the bomb is in hookah and we get a ping at nearby bar we'd know the roamer is obviously watching the windows and/or planning a c4, ping might force em to change plans + we'd know what not to do next round

The only other reason I would think lion players do that at the start of the round is maybe to try to get a ping on someone trying to run to a window to spawn peak… they could always just stop moving but this then gives u the time u need to get to the building. Not sure just what I’m thinking

I think people do it because they want to deter defenders from doing early runouts when attackers are approaching the building. Not sure why they do it though as they can still peek the windows and soft walls without moving
