i feel like parents often act this way when their child has an eating disorder. they think FORCING them to eat will make things better, but it only makes it twice as bad. i am not even sure what a HEALTHY method is to get better because forcing them isn't good nor is just sitting around and letting them continue as they are. but i can relate a lot to how Casey is feeling.

self-esteem....mine was extremely low and i was always seeking approval from others. i felt like i could never measure up at home or at school in social circles....i believed once i was thin i would be accepted....i was, but then i felt angry and hated people for liking me just because i was now socially acceptable. it was torture being bulimic!

I know everyone thinks the father is being horrible, but you have to understand how hard it probably is for him to watch his daughter get smaller and smaller. Think about it....If he was doing it to be mean, he wouldn't do it because he wouldn't have cared if she died but he is so scared of losing his daughter he is just flipping out about it. My dad did a similar thing to me and looking back i thought he was being horrible, but really he was just terrified and didnt want me to die. Thank you
@TheEmpressReborn6 жыл бұрын
Probably because he IS being horrible. Yes, he's trying to help her, but being verbally abusive to the whole family, shouting at everyone, not caring about what the daughter wanted in her life (besides anorexia related) and ignoring her otherwise can't really be called anything good.

The dad does not act the best way, but if you are in a situation like this it is difficult to act the "right way'. First of all because they know anything about the illness. They think forcing her to eat will work (that's what parents do when kid do not want to do something - force them to).

You are probably right. Jennifer prob did NOT get that thin for the role. But, Christian Bale DID GET SERIOUSLY underweight for his role in "THE MACHINIST." Then again, that was a "big-budget" film and this is more like a Lifetime movie. Regardless, I do enjoy this film, I love JJL and I miss the 80's! I wonder if this was before or after my all-time fav, "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". (???)
