TBH I have usually found that when I contact the hotel directly they always give a price that is MORE than the 3d party service. When I tell them the lower price from the 3rd party they have always just shrugged their shoulders and said that I should book from the 3rd party agency. Go figure.

It’s certainly not a hard and steady rule that they’ll give you a room cheaper when you contact directly, but I find that more often than not both chain and local hotels will. And for chain hotels they have that official price match policy I went over if a third-party site is cheaper.

@@DavidGTravels Amazing. I've been trying to book a room at the Solitaire in Bangkok today. They quoted me a higher price over the phone than they show on their own website! When I asked her why the price was higher she said I should email them and she will talk to the manager 🙄

Turn your mic down and I’ll keep watching
@DavidGTravels2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. The sound you’re hearing is actually a result of improving my audio since I started the channel. Is the audio too loud for you compared to other videos you watch or is it more about the quality of the sound at that volume? It can be tricky to get the perfect mix since KZbin compresses audio a ton, so feedback like this is extremely useful to me in making these videos as good as they can be.

@@DavidGTravels I used to be a live brand presenter. To me, I believe you are projecting your voice too much, like you are trying to ‘reach’ your audiences ears. Only my opinion, but try experimenting with your mic. I was told to speak into your mic at the same volume and tone you’d speak to your best friend, alone in a room. You’ll get more depth and texture. This may feel counterintuitive because you want to ‘stand out’ and captivate your audiences attention. But try it. It’ll allow returning audiences ( like myself) to engage and feel confident that you are speaking to ‘us’. Therefore you will possibly build a more loyal fan base. Anyway good luck brother- enjoy!

@@stuartburton3758interesting, the “talking to a friend” bit is what I learned both as a public speaker and as a musician. Thanks for sharing your take!

Nice video, but your example of booking a hilton hotel with just 10k points, where have you ever seen that?
@DavidGTravels2 ай бұрын
Around the world, that’s the lowest rate you’ll find Hilton hotels available for. The last time I got that exact deal was at a Hilton property in Cairo, Egypt.

@@DavidGTravels that's a needle in a haystack, hilton rooms are usually 40k and up
@DavidGTravels2 ай бұрын
Definitely not a needle in a hay stack, but you won’t find 10k Hiltons in NYC or anything. It definitely can seem easier to find lowest category hotels with Hyatt and Marriott.

@@DavidGTravels I'm glad you found 10k prices other places, where,? Other than Cairo do you find hiltons for 10k per night?... in the u.s.
@DavidGTravels2 ай бұрын
@@philbertshevitz3113in the US I’ve only seen Hiltons go that low that are kind of out of the way of anything, but hotel pricing in the US is generally pretty out of control. Closest to the US would in Mexico for very low Hilton redemptions, but you can really find these all over the world.
