I have used the MX3 for over a year. I use Sonus faber Toy speakers. This is the best sounding desktop setup I have ever had. This little amp and the Sonus faber speakers will amaze you with clean ,clear, beautiful Sound. I highly recommend this setup.

Love my mx-3 and it's now about to be used as part of a 7 years olds first gaming setup with a pair of Roth Oli ra-1 speakers which where £50 from Amazon in the UK but have a fantastic sound for the money and a great pair with thi tiny amp. Only annoying is the new Xbox we are adding to it no longer has optical and doesn't support usb audio. So the mx-3 will be used just as an amplifier bypassing the DAC. Fingers crossed Microsoft add usb audio at a later date. Great video you got a new sub 😁

I've been hearing that a lot lately. Checkout the SMSL AD18 - I've a video up on my channel reviewing that one. I'm currently filming a video for the SMSL AO200 which should be up in a couple weeks - I highly recommend it.

I use my MX3 with a pair of Cambridge Audio SX50's and it works really well. Only need to have the volume around 13% to get loud output. Using Fidelio X2HR headphones on them also works very well at around 30-35%. My only complaint is the lack of a mic input, but nothing else really comes close in terms of price that also has that feature.

I bought this amp over 2 years ago. I've had volume button issues where it randomly jumps up when I'm turning the volume down and it jumps down when I'm turning the volume up. Its a big issue in forums. I'm looking to replace mine because the issue is craazy annoying but I haven't found a good replacement.

If you like the sound of your Pioneer speakers, I'd save $75 and get the MX3 over the Edifier speakers. Getting the MX3 gives you the option to upgrade your speakers down the road. If you like the sound of the Edifier over your Pioneers, I'd get those. The nice thing about using passive speakers with an amp, is you can buy used speakers relatively cheap.

Being that you'll need an amp to power your Sony's, I'd personally run everything from the MX3 (if you're trying to save space on your desk). The 560s is only 120 ohms, so the MX3 should provide more than enough power. If you're a headphone enthusiast, it might be worth keeping the A30/D30 stack on your desk - but I prefer the minimalist look.

The MX3 is being replaced by the MX5. Topping is sending me a review unit of the MX5, but I don't have an ETA yet. The Loxjie A30 or SMSL AD18 are good alternatives.

Apparently those speakers are quite hard to drive. Consider trying my setup - SA300, Concept 20 and a good SUB.

People often get an MX3 to replace a soundbar. If your soundbar is internally powered (i.e. you plug it into a wall socket) the MX3 isn't what you're looking for. The MX3 is meant to power passive speakers.

There are pros and cons for either USB vs optical. I've never had an issue connecting via USB - it really comes down to what sounds better to you (assuming you'll connect to your pc via USB or optical).

Optical and USB are both digital signals. They both send the same 1s and 0s to the DAC to decode. There are pros and cons to both digital formats (jitter, latency, electrical interference). I use USB (like most folks) but I invite to do some research or try both and decide which you like better. I suspect you won't be able to tell the difference in sound - in which case, choose what's most convenient for your setup. Sound is subjective.

I'm not sure I understand your question. You can use those apps via Bluetooth with the MX3 if you have those apps installed on your device sending the Bluetooth signal.

The MX3 doesn't send music, it only receives it, then plays it through your connected speakers. Your device (PC or phone) sends the music signal via bluetooth to the MX3. Sorry if I'm still not understanding your question.

I'm using a Focusrite Forte - unfortunately, it's discontinued. I use the Forte to power my microphone and the MX3 for my speakers and headphones - so basically, I have my sound output setup for the MX3 and the sound input for the Forte.

I've only tried to monitor audio from the MX3 once and wasn't able to. If I need to monitor audio, I use the headphone jack on the Forte (which is why I have two sets of headphones).

You can set the MX3 up to display the sound level in dB instead of 0-100. If you set it to 0dB (and leave it there) you'd have the option of sending an unamplified signal to active speakers. Z Reviews mentions this option in his review.

The da-8s has no USB input, it only has Bluetooth. I prefer a wired connection to my PC. That said, I've never tried the da-8a.

@@Myxo14 points for Mx3 because it has a mid quality dac perfectly for flacs and also sub output. I've been in the hunt for a mini amplifier but the problem is that most of them has very few inputs if that..I discover a Denon receiver RCD-M38 with Cd player and also 2 aux inputs + sub output ..Not as tiny as MX3 but lots o features and saving space for its narrow dimentions.

That's the Focusrite Forte - it's an audio interface I use for my XLR microphone (AT4040).
