I 100% recommend a boost pedal for everyone, you need to put it before an overdrive. If you have room I'd recommend 2 overdrives, one transparent (example - Morning Glory by JHS) and one that adds lots of mids (Example - The Charlie Brown by JHS). then can boost into either overdrive and have so many different sounds. This video also shows and overdrive is great for ambient sounds.
@nobesmusic

Totally! And you always boost it clean without the overdrive as well. And yea those JHS pedals are legendary!

I feel like a Jackson Audio Bloom would fit well where that boost pedal is. And that way you have compression, EQ, AND BOOST all in 1 pedal without compromising space. Making your board even more versatile
@nobesmusic

Yes totally! That would be killer. This is a niche little walrus board so I’m always rearranging it with walrus pedals. I have the 385 MKii know which has two drive settings on it so it’s killer!

The Fathom, specially the lower octave sonar control, is one of my favorite reverbs, just wish I could turn the modulation off completely instead of just low. The Fathom also has a secret delay+verb mode like how the ARP has the secret delay+trem mode.

Awesome video. These sounds sound great! Have you encountered any challenges when playing live? I’m curious as to how you could quickly change between sounds (different settings within each device). I’m wondering your thoughts on how this compares to say, a programmable pedal board? I’m in the market for something.
@nobesmusic
@nobesmusic 2 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yea it’s a killer set up. I did a full tour with this thing. It worked great! Definitely more tapping than midi programming, but with only a few pedals, it’s not that bad. The tap tempo for delay is key though. Like, I don’t mind reaching down to to change the delay type, but to change the delay time from a knob every time is not efficient playing live

Cool board. The only thing I’d recommend is swapping the position of the arp87 with the od or boost so the dual foot switches are spaced more. Obviously in the same signal chain

nice pedal and demo! this is so cool.. do you think it will be possible to put deep six compressor instead of boost pedal here?
@nobesmusic
@nobesmusic 10 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot! It was a really fun build. Yea you could put the boost there but the volume wouldn’t fit. The boost is small enough to get in there. But you could totally do a the deep six and then a small tuner at the beginning of the chain. Just no volume
