NICE kits :) It's kind of sad that model building has dropped off so much over the years. When I was a kid, I built everything from WWII aircraft, ships, and vehicles, as well as Modern cars like my favorite kit at the time a Porsche 911 Carrera, that I painted Candy Apple Red with Metal Flake! I noticed even then that many kits came in different scales but none were made in scales that would combine the hobby with another. Greatly increasing the customers that would be interested in keeping the hobby alive! Considered "THE WORLDS GREATEST HOBBY!" Which would be Model Railroading! I built many kits that were in the 1:144 scale (1:148) and 1:72 scale I think it was? The two most popular scales in Model Railroading were close to that. 1:160 for N Scale and 1:87 for HO Scale. I would have thought that some "thinking" CEO looking to the future, would have thought of that many years ago. Opening up the market for a huge increase in sales. And started making some kits in those scales as well? I contacted one of the major kit manufacturers and brought that up. They seemed genuinely angry at the idea! In the conversation I mentioned I know that retooling machinery to make the kits would be expensive but what about when coming out with NEW models that need NEW manufacturing tools and techniques, design them for those two scales? It's no wonder so many businesses fail in todays "keep up or disappear" world. I build kits with my children now, but they want to focus on kits that can be placed onto their Model Railroad like buildings and making the scenery. There is a huge market of MILLIONS of people out there worldwide that is being ignored. Sadness.

The Tomahawk is a gorgeous kit and the only one to get the floor right. The 1/100 'Tamiya kits are all removed kits -- nice but not Tamiya quality. The Stuart was a pleasant surprise -- I'll keep my eyes open for it. Happy New Year!

It might just be me but on the Spitfire shouldn't the side roundels be Type A.1 and not Type B as they were for the upper wings only.

Before the Battle of Britain, you would find the smaller roundels without yellow outlines on the fuselage of spitfires

On the last stretch of the Airfix 1/48 Sea King.... the rotor blades. A gorgeous kit; the detail and fit is sublime; almost Tamiya-like, but not quite! But still exceptional.... 👍 That Lancaster from Airfix (2010's version) is a great kit too; I built the Dambuster version a couple of years back; it's so nice and detailed inside, and out; looks wonderful! 😃
@AV-8History9 ай бұрын
@@stevesstuff1450 I'm not too fond of the lanc personally, absolutely shocking, the bomb bay doors and the fuselage were warped, the fuselage not so bad but the doors were definitely noticeably deformed, parts were labelled the wrong numbers in the instructions, its terrible really, and it wasnt just mine, the tiger force kit had the issues aswell, there is a video on KZbin showing it on that version, he bought two kits and both of them warped the same as mine, not great really. But I got through it in the end lol, just finished it and now its waiting to be painted.

Excuse me a moment - we all have our own take on construction/painting/finish etc but have you not heard of filler? I have been watching a few of your videos now and, whilst I don't like to take too long on any given project (except the Fine Moulds Millennium Falcon, took bloody ages but somewhat a labour of love) I do like my models to have a decent overall look when completed, something approaching the real thing wherever possible. Real aircraft generally don't have gaps between wing, fuselage etc. If you are going to put the effort in, a little more time spent pre-finishing the surfaces before painting (it IS worth washing the mould release agent off the plastic before painting!) will make a huge difference in the end result, give it try, you will notice the difference.

As a review channel i will on occasion leave the large gaps visible so that people who are thinking of buying the kit can see the areas they may want to improve. Fixing everysingle problem, in my opinion, doesn't always give a true reflection of a kit and can make bad kits look good - not a true reflection of the product in that case
@MG1018 ай бұрын
